Title: Player Houses
Post by: Chainer on February 18, 2015, 05:25:59 AM
Player Houses

How they work

You can now buy houses around Las Venturas. (They're only around LV for now, although more may be added later.)

A buyable house looks like this:

You can go inside by walking on the marker. Once inside, you can look around. You can decide to buy the house if you have enough cash on you by typing /buyhouse. Your house will be saved for you after you log off. (You may lose your house if you go inactive for a long time, though.)

Once you've bought the house, the marker outside will change to display your name:

At this point, only you can enter the house, unless you invite others.

What do houses do?

All houses give the following benefits:

- Armor / health pickups. These are located inside, usually near the exit. The health pickup refills your health, and the armor pickup refills your armor up to 50%. They respawn within two minutes of you using them.
- Spawn vehicle. Each house comes with your spawn vehicle, which is parked outside in the driveway as long as you are connected. You can choose from among several types of spawn vehicles, with the Infernus being the default. Others can steal your vehicle from your driveway, but you will be notified if they do so you can hunt them down.
- Spawn location. Your house can optionally serve as your spawn point.
- Buyable items. While inside your house, you can by items (such as furniture, or other pieces of decoration) from a menu, and place them in your house as you choose. These are also saved along with your house after you log off.
- Inviting others. By default no one but you can enter your house. You can, however, individually invite up to 30 people. (The invitations are also saved after you log off, until you uninvite them.)

The /house menu

When you're inside your house, you can type /house to access the above features. You will get a menu that looks like this:

Most of these options are pretty self-explanatory, although some deserve slightly more of an explanation.

Spawn Vehicles

If you click "Choose Spawn Vehicle", you get this menu:

You can set the type of your spawn vehicle from here. Once you pick a new option, if your vehicle is in your driveway, it will change immediately. Otherwise, it'll respawn as the new type the next time it respawns (which happens once it dies or has been without a driver for 1 minute).

Items

If you click "Buy Item", you get a list of the items that you can currently buy:

Once you select an item, it will spawn in front of you with controls that you can use to move it around:

During this, you can run around as usual, although if you want to change the camera angle you have to hold your sprint key while moving. Once you are happy with how your object is placed, you can click the Save icon (the rightmost of the controls) to save and buy it. During editing, you can press ESC if you change your mind and don't want the item. Also, as previously mentioned, items save after you log off, so they'll be where you left them once you return.

To remove an object you've bought, select the "Delete Item" option from the /house menu, and then shoot the itemt you want to remove.

Where you can find the houses

Houses are mainly clustered around the following areas:

Red:  This group contains many large, two-story houses. They're fairly expensive, as they're close to LV / North Ammunation, which as we know is where a lot of action goes down.
Orange:  These are, on average, the cheapest houses in LV, as they're far away from any place useful. They are also generally quite small on the inside.
Green:  These are of mediocre price, and have interiors of medium size.
Blue:  These are pretty similar to the green group, although some are a little cheaper since they're further from most of the action in LV.
Yellow:  Expensive and crappy interiors, thanks to them being very close to North Ammu.

Keep in mind that these are just generalizations. There are also some surprise houses that lead to unexpected interiors, as well as some secret houses that are outside the marked areas.

Misc info/stats

Known Bugs

There is a bug with the house interiors that served as the burglary houses in single player, where if you enter a certain number of them (5, I think) during a single session (i.e., without quitting), the default furniture will stop showing up them. This only affects the furniture that is in the house by default, and not the items that you can buy. As this is a SAMP bug, I am unfortunately unable to fix it.

Warning

Do not buy multiple houses under different accounts. Due to there being a limited number of houses, you are only allowed to have one at a time. If we find that you've done this, you will lose all of your houses.

That's it, enjoy! :)

So, in order to make things easier and faster, i took pictures of all of the interiors with their respective id numbers. This way whenever an admin is in the process of building a house they can do it faster if you tell them which interior you wish to have.

Click the id numbers to watch the corresponding interior:

Wow, that was fast, this is a really huge feature, the server hasn't known this a really long time, amazing job man.

Post by: Freak on February 18, 2015, 06:16:20 AM
As Habdel said awesome job! Going to test this soon.

By the way the donators can set their spawn infront of the houses, can't they? Since if I get killed by someone, I could respawn near to my house.

Post by: Chainer on February 18, 2015, 07:08:12 AM
You can actually set your house to be your spawn point (anyone can, not just donators) from the /house menu.

First of all,its awesome...though I would like to notify some bugs I found..
Armor health pickups not working after picking one time...
Objects which bought disappears and deleted objects spawns again sometimes..( only in some areas of house..some dont have problems.)
House's default objects keeps changing...like a drawer disappeared..bought one and put there...then some other objects spawn there..

Wow - awesome work Chainer! I can't remember the last time a feature of this caliber was implemented. I'm hopping online the second I get home!! Question: How long will a house belong to you? If I'm inactive for ten minutes, will I lose the house? What about ten hours? What about ten days? What about ten weeks? I'd imagine after ten months the house would be back on the market.

Sometimes I go inactive for ~1 month, and I'd like to know if the house would remain mine during the duration.

Haven't decided yet. It depends a lot on how quickly the houses sell, and how many empty ones remain. It'll probably be somewhere from a week to a month, though. I'll make some sort of announcement when it's decided.

Money in your house: big -1, we would end up having players always banking cash in their house --> no more people carrying cash on them in the street, no more hunting, no more fun.

I wonder if people really get the spirit of LW, or they just want the ez stuff going for them  :-\
Money is what makes this server be interesting, creating different situations who lead to huge wars and funny fights, put that in mind :))

Playing LW means also experiencing the thrill of carrying shitloads of cash on you to buy something, with the risk of getting chased and maybe killed; or to be on the other side and locating and hunting your rich prey to get his precious cash!  8)
Nothin should be easy in LW, welcome to the jungle man!

LET'S REVIVE THE OLD LW SPIRIT, LESS SCARED FAGS HIDING IN INTERIORS, MORE BRAVE PEOPLE WHO WANT THE FUN OF MONEY WARS!

Ok i'm done with my harangue xD

but not fair at all. if this server follows strict rules and conditions. then all players, admins, & management should follow all rules and regulations at all aspects.....thank u....

Moral of my words is: RULE IS ALWAYS A RULE AT EVERY PLAYING POINT OF ASPECT AND SHOULD BE MAINTAINED PERFECTLY THERE SHOULD BE NO SECOND OPINION IN ANY RULE.....

Bump!

I have worked the last 2 days on cleaning the houses of players to make room for people that actually plays the server in 2016 to have a chance to own a house. These are the results:

Houses removed due to..

Multiple house owners: 20
Inactivity beyond 3 months: 99
Banned players for cheating: 70

Total:~33% of the total amount houses have been reset.

That's a LOT. The number is close to half the amount of house owners, which is a bit terrifying if you ask me. We see that the inactivity has increased, while we're working on decreasing it.
Title: Re: Player Houses
Post by: Runi on January 04, 2016, 12:50:18 AM
People always come and go.

Word. But the goal is to make people stay as long as they can, and I didn't take it in consideration. I've seen people (and i'm talking about regulars now) leaving after 6-7 months as they "got bored". How come am I or YOU still playin' the same damn game for years... Server's made to be attractive for certain players, and those who stayed for awhile leaving that fast aren't expected from. It's logical...

there is a lot of people that don't own a house.

It's quite true that there are still homeless people remaining. I wasn't only aiming on them though, I was speaking generally about the playercount, but that should be left for the right and proper time to be discussed.

Inspired by the economic law of offer/demand, i present you, in behalf of the management team, the newest update in the rules regarding houses and gang houses.

New rules:

A house placed in a location of a player's preference is worth now 10 Millions. If said player wants a custom interior that will be 5 extra Millions. The full pack is worth 15 Millions plus the price of the house.

Forbidden locations are: North Ammu-nation and the Police Department surroundings.

A house placed in a gang base is now worth 5 Million plus the 2.5 Millions of the normal price of the gang house. In addition to that, if a custom interior is requested, it will have a price of 5 extra Millions. If a player wants to purchase the full pack, it will cost him 12,5 Millions. No discounts.

Excuse me, but you should include house price in this sum, since this is really too much for a single house without any decorations outside.

Ya man that's very nice thnig, but Rizla's house is still there, it was the nearest house to Ammu and still. So now can we ask for a new house bit far from ammu ? because it's kinda unfair if we are not allowed to ask, The reason why its unfair because We had the chance to buy those houses (Normal houses) but we got these houses for 10M cause it was allowed. Now all the houses near Ammu sold.

So i guess we can ask for a house bit far from nammu ? Like beside still existing houses.

Update:

17 Houses sold from players that did not join in all of 2017.
24 Houses sold from players that were banned due to cheats and never appealed their bans.
29 Houses sold from players with multiple accounts, and they have been warned.
