Title: Stats website, userbars and server map
Post by: blewert on July 03, 2015, 02:32:54 PM
hey guys, so some of you may have noticed that I've been working on something for the past week or two. I decided to make a stats website because the old one seemingly vanished from the face of the earth, and I never knew why. I always wanted to try and improve the old one, and so this is my attempt. This isn't fully completed yet. I'm just putting it up here for testing, as I'm sure a lot of you guys will find issues with it that I can fix for a later release. I also plan to make some leaderboards like the old website, and if I have enough time I'll even make some dynamic signatures for you!
Just a small update, but I have been working on the userbars/signatures that I promised to make. I tried to follow the same design as the stats website, and please take note that these signatures are still not fully finished - I plan to make use of some of the intentionally reserved space below the kills/deaths and ratio stats. I also have plans of having an option to select one of many different backgrounds for the signatures, so you can personalise them!
Here is an example of a dynamic signature for the user 'Puranjay'. The statistics in this signature will change over time, as the signature is generated every time you view it.
So how do you get one yourself? Well, I tried to make this part as easy as possible. To do this, please see the following steps.
Step #1 First of all, you need to search for the account you wish to generate a signature for within the stats website (http://stats.littlewhiteys.com).
Step #3 This should display a modal window which will have the generated BBCode within a textbox, ready to paste directly into your signature. You then need to copy the text from this textbox.
Step #4 Then, go to your profile (Profile > Forum Profile, click this link (http://littlewhiteys.com/index.php?action=profile;area=forumprofile)) and paste the copied code into your signature. You don't need to replace your signature entirely, and you can simply append the signature code to your signature wherever you like, along with your existing signature. Hit "Change Profile" to confirm your changes, and you're done!
You can now choose a background for your stats signatures, instead of the default white background. For now, there aren't much backgrounds to choose from, but at least it's something you can begin to personalise!
To view them all, follow the same steps in my earlier post. Just go to the stats website (http://stats.littlewhiteys.com/), click the BBCode link, and you should be presented with a modal window. Within this modal window, there is a new section where you can select the background for your signature, and the code for signature in the textbox underneath should update automatically for you. The rest should be fairly self-explanatory.
If you're having trouble with choosing a background, try refresh the page a couple of times (say, 5 or 6) to force your browser to hard reload the page. Also feel free to suggest new backgrounds and stuff!
I have developed some very rudimental player leaderboards. At the moment they only display the top 25 players with regards to kills, online time and K/D ratio. These are also currently limited to displaying results from all time, meaning that the leaderboards on a daily/weekly/monthly basis is not yet available (but hopefully will be developed in the future!).
In the future I would like to make some gang leaderboards, and also create a 'combined' tab within the leaderboards for the overall best players. This would probably be done by recalculating the exp given to each player (like in the stats website) and then sorting according to this.
To access the leaderboards, just go to the stats website (http://stats.littlewhiteys.com/) and click on the newly-created 'menu' icon to display a navigation bar. It's this icon:
A navigation bar should then slide in from the left-side of the page. The rest is pretty easy - just navigate to 'Leaderboards' and you should be fine. Alternatively, if you're having problems navigating to the leaderboards, just click here (http://stats.littlewhiteys.com/leaderboards.html).
If you're having problems with the website, please try refresh the page a couple of times or clear your browser's cache and reload the page. Also please let me what you think of it, and do mention any problems you might have!

my account is as old as the average player age! D:
[evo]rizla registered their account 7 years ago. The last time [evo]rizla played on littlewhitey's SA-MP server was 2 days ago, making them an active player. [evo]rizla has played for 9 weeks, 3 days, 6 hours and 10 minutes in total, meaning they have spent 2.41% of their time playing on the server.
this is really nice work blewert, thank you :D

wow dude. The website is really great. I like the awards and exp. stuff. The overall look of the website is just amazing. Just one little thing, if it could fit in the page. I mean, i was side scrolling the page to see awards. My resolution is 1366x768 and zoom to 100%.
Awards are now not displayed on the right-hand side of the page as a sticky rail, but can be viewed via a modal popup (click "Show awards for this player" as shown here (http://puu.sh/iTIXJ/735c3ac081.png)). The modal window also shows a few more detailed statistics showing the player's progression in terms of exp. Let me know if you have any more issues with the formatting here as I haven't tested it across many browsers (I've only emulated screen resolutions).
Addition #2 adds page history using url fragments. This means if you search for "alice" then "bob" and then hit the back button on the browser, the site will automatically reload the stats of "alice" from the "bob" page. It achieves this by using a # symbol in the url, which also now allows you to permalink to player pages:
but how do you get a permalink to a page? Easy. Just search for a name, and then copy the address of the page!
I think the next development from me will be to get some dynamic signatures working using the same backend, or add some leaderboards. Which would you guys prefer first?
p.s. have you guys got any cool screenshots of the server I could use in the background? I'm looking for some really nice photography around LV or something. Something like this. (http://stats.littlewhiteys.com/stats/img/background2.jpg)

I've added this now - when you click on a player's awards it should have a link saying "Show locked awards" at the bottom of the dialog, which should show/hide the awards that the player hasn't unlocked yet when clicked. Sometimes the scroll kinda sticks when you toggle them, but I guess i'll look into it later on.
also i fixed some issue where the AJAX to grab the player's stats was firing twice per search (because each search changes the url which fired a callback which in turn, searched again).

This is not necessarily an update to the stats website itself, however I guess it is worth mentioning. The custom "ingame name" profile field which shows your name below your contact details in posts now links to the stats website with the name you specified in this field. Here is a picture for a better explanation:
Actually, after I'm unbanned is my balance still at -100m? If so I probably won't even join occasionally but Lofty did say it was only temporary, Lofty can you clarify pls?

Its actually Javascript code, You can't use it in your signature because its a really risk to allow members to use javascript/html in the signatures Someone can just simple make a script that opening ads or smth like that so, Its only for managements :p

Remove only these two ''*'' and it should work. You always have to remove ''https:''
Hope you get it. :P
As a future note, you can use [nobbc][/nobbc] instead of using asterisks to show bbcode without it actually converting it!
In other news, I'm probably going to make some form of basic userbar for players later on, due to some people asking for it. It will definitely be rough around the edges, and initially it will be a fairly crude implementation, but at least then there is something for you guys to use. I can modify it so it displays more information, and you can suggest more features!

Step #3 This should display a modal window which will have the generated BBCode within a textbox, ready to paste directly into your signature. You then need to copy the text from this textbox.
Step #4 Then, go to your profile (Profile > Forum Profile, click this link (http://forum.littlewhiteys.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;area=forumprofile)) and paste the copied code into your signature. You don't need to replace your signature entirely, and you can simply append the signature code to your signature wherever you like, along with your existing signature. Hit "Change Profile" to confirm your changes, and you're done!

This is because I forgot to escape the player's name when generating the BBCode to paste into the signature. I've fixed it and it seems to work fine now.
Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it!

In other news, it's been a while since I've added stuff to the stats website and it's other pages. So, I have developed a somewhat-live server map, powered with SanMap. SanMap allows for the ability to use gtasa's top-down map through Google Maps and it's family of APIs. Here is a region of the map, for example:
Hopefully you get the idea. If you don't want to read about each and every functionality, you can either access it through menu of the stats website (it's labelled as 'Server map'), or you can just click here to go directly to it (http://stats.littlewhiteys.com/stats/housemap.html). Otherwise, feel free to read below for the low-down.
1. Functionalities
The map itself has a few functionalities I want to point out. It's primary purpose is to outline information about both occupied and unoccupied houses, so users who wish to buy a house can locate one with a reasonable price. I also intended it to be used to locate the houses of registered users, as well as displaying gang turfs and gang base zones.
1.1 Mouse controls
You can hover your mouse over any of the icons to check who owns the house (cf. Fig 1a. below). A red house icon signifies an occupied house, whereas a green house icon signifies an unoccupied house. You can also click on one of these house icons to see more info about the house (cf. Fig 1b below). This can be closed by pressing the 'x' icon in the top right of the panel. It also gives you a handy link so you can view the stats of the player who owns this house!
You can also use the default Google Maps controls to pan and zoom throughout the map. To pan, click and drag the left mouse button. To zoom, you can either use the mouse wheel, or the zoom controls in the bottom right of the screen.
1.2 Menu
The menu is displayed at the top of the page. It features a button to the left which takes you back to the stats website, if you wish to exit. It also displays the percentage of occupied vs unoccupied households, for shits and giggles. The real powerful tool here is the search box, which allows you to search for the houses of players. You can locate this by looking for "Search for player houses", along with the magnifying glass icon on the top-right of the screen (or see the images below).
To search for players, it's fairly simple. Just click on the search box and type in the name of the desired player. This will then pop-up with a few results, in which you can either click, or navigate through with the up/down arrow keys and enter. Once you click/press a player from the results box, you will be took to their house on the map, and information about it will be shown. This process can be seen below.
In the future, I will probably extend the functionality of this to encompass other stuff from the server. For example, it's fairly straightforward to plot existing race routes onto the map. It could also potentially be used to create race routes (with the addition of a heightmap). If you have any suggestions about what other things I could add, please feel free to post about it.
I would also appreciate it if you guys would give me feedback about this. Test it to your heart's content, and please point out any issues you have. I'd also like to thank Reggie aka Zanny whose persistent requests for this type of map has resulted in me developing this!
If you missed the link earlier, just click the button below to go to the site.

Oh my god this is better than sliced bread. Can we name a road after blewert? Like, the Strip in LV will from now on be the Blewert Boulevard.

I also intended it to be used to locate the houses of registered users, as well as displaying gang turfs and gang base In the future, I will probably extend the functionality I would also appreciate it if you guys would give me feedback about this. Test it to your heart's content, and please point out any issues you have. I'd also like to thank Reggie aka Zanny whose persistent requests for this type of map has resulted in me developing this!
[/html]
Wow grate, add a search bar for 'race maps' please, and, a list of recently unoccupied houses, so we know what got reset, if you know whatta I mean

A few of you might have noticed that the SA-MP statistics portal went down recently, along with the forum signatures. This is because we have moved it over to littlewhiteys.com instead of littlewhiteys.co.uk.
Everything should be fine now, apart from the house map.. I'm going to come back to this.
(im still not management)

I've created a link to the new house map in the "SA-MP server" board, so you can click this if you need instead of searching through this topic in future. Just click on the "House Map portal" link and you should be good!
If this still doesn't make sense, I mean this, on the front of the forum:
