If you dont know this already,
Remixes or extended versions of songs came out on big vinyl singles called "Twelve inch singles" back then,
Looked like an LP but played at 45rpm, Only DJ's had them to start with,
Some of them had longer instrumental parts and others where totaly remixed or maybe a bit of both.

Soft Cell - Say Hello Wave Goodbye (1982 Extended Version) (Audio)

SOFT CELL - TAINTED DUB (REMIX DUB TAINTED LOVE)

Soft Cell Bedsitter Extended 12 Mix

We all had 12 inchers back then :)  (penus joke)

I got some of these 12 inch as mp3 but I usually like the original versions more, they kick more. Guess at parties most djs played the orginal instead of the extended or instead of the remix.

Only radio dj's would play the orginal 7 inch, pub. club and disco dj's always played the 12 inchers, and mix then together, It was great, not much talking :)

yes, elof, when i listened to them, I thought it would be perfect for djaying... but some of them sound real strange to me... They do not sound as good as the radio/album versions sound to me...
Nowadays real good djs can mix everything :D

If you compare the dub version to the usual version of tainted love... the dub version does not sound as much as a dancefloorfiller than the original version...
+ nowadays ppl can not concentrate as long at a track, best you play the songs max 3 mins.

Funny you should say that, There where two 12inch versions of that song, Tainted love/Where did our love go, was an extented version and Tainted Dub/Where did our love go, was like a mixed up version
(I only know that cos i've got them both}
Maybe you prefer this one :)

Soft Cell - Tainted Love (12" mix)

Hehe, we didn't have extasy back then, Only weed,    Weed = longer tracks  :)

I like this version most, sorry the longer extended version does not sound as good as this:
GLORIA JONES- "TAINTED LOVE" (1964)
 ;)
no just a joke, i like soul verry much, but this version is the best:
80's soft cell tainted love

cant exacly say why it is better... maybe its a lil faster (at least it sounds like) ... the version kicks more.

hmnn, wasnt extasy there from the end of the 60s?
