The fault is not 100% yours Qwerbeet, but 50% goes for the server for not having a spawn protection, unlike other servers and even other games.

Yeah sure, you won't think the same if I post some screenshots of me being spawnkilled just when joining the server...
Screenshots show will prove nothing, of course you're going to get killed eventually if you aren't playing.
You said there was no spawn protection when infact everyone who spawns is invulnerable for a small time, not to mention that ALL spawns have some sort of randomisation (unless you choose to get rid of it with donator commands) which is there to prevent spawn killing.
Whether you think it is effective or not is not what you stated, efforts have been made in order to prevent spawn killing. You make it sound otherwise and like it has never been cared for.
