Anyways, whoever get's in or is going to play when open beta starts:

Making a new topic to make this post stand out a bit more and cause APB is going free 2 play..
I was wondering if anyone or clan is going to try out APB, it's going to be free 2 play this year, it's a lot like SA-MP but only four million times better :)

It is not out yet, expected to be out first half of this year for sure. Closed beta is end of February.

It's free 2 play. You will be able to get premium though, for like 9 euro or something per month, to unlock extra stuff (you can still get that "extra stuff" if you're a free player but you'll just have to play more :P).

Yes you can teamkill but I wouldn't suggest doing that in a mission unless you want to loose.

* They're going to change the way upgrades work, each upgrade will have a downside
* They're going to improve missions, make them more fun for both sides
* They're going to impove witnessing criminals and turn it into delivery mission if a enforcer witnesses a criminal, team who delivers gets the cash
* They're going to improve matchmaking and threat level, making it more accurate
* They're going to improve the spawning system, making it more fair and calculate in your team's positions, deaths, enemies etc
* They're going to improve the way your score is determined at the end of a mission

I noticed that some of you were wondering about wether your computer could run the game. When the game was first released it was very very poorly optomised. It was unplayable with inconsistent frame rates and tons of stuttering for alot of people who exceeded the reccomended requirements. So far I haven't seen any posts mentioning wether or not it has been optomised any further. Having more people being able to run the game is obviously important especially for free2play games.

I got my key today but the application won't accept my dxdiag. It's saying that its an unrecognised format. Apparently it was because I didn't run the dxdiag in 64 bit mode. However I tried that and it still doesn't work. Plus some of the questions are silly like it asking for your Mobile Phone details and which social networking site you use. Which I use neither.

Well I guess i signed up for the EU part of the beta, it would annoy me playing with a higher ping anyways.
APB is actually the only game that still got me interested at the moment, when is the EU beta taking place exactly?

Go into your APB installation and remove:
Client1.4.3.559785.xml.zip
ClientFiles.xml
Launcher1.2.3.559387.xml.zip
LauncherFiles.xml
Patches.xml
Uninstall.exe
Then start the launcher, it should start scanning and redownloading.

Where are you from? Playing as Europe player on USWEST the driving is really laggy. There have also been some routing issue's from california to where their servers are located causing big ping's and then driving lag.

My in-game name is NiGHTM4RE and i live in California. I guess it's just fps lag that causes the laggy steering.

Oh no. There is a routing issue with California.. they're working on fixing that. Check /fps to see how much latency you got.

I can't say tbh, cause of the lag to the US server, my latency is like 200-300, rubber banding constantly, lag with driving etc, will have to wait before I get transfered to EU.

The original plan called for March 15 for start of the EU test, but given the amount of work left after last week's heroic efforts by the team (generally until 3am every night), I am ready to bet its going to be a few days later than that. So a more conservative estimate brings that to March 22-23 or so start for the EU CB release and performance test. But if it CAN be done before that date - then we would of course proceed as quickly as possible and invite everyone as rapidly as we can.
EDIT: I got my closed beta key, downloading the game atm. It says I am part of wave 1. Guess I got lucky that I was picked out from Europe for wave 1.

It's actually 512mb and no, you can NOT run it. It takes about 1.6gb of RAM when you are idling, win7 takes 1gb. So pretty much 3gb is minimum on what ram you can play APB. I have quite a lot better PC than you do and when there's action around, I get like 20fps, 30-40fps when not much is going around, inside I get 50-60fps but you barely are inside in this game. And that's on minimum graphs.

Closed Beta access is given to 1 PC, 1 account, 1 IP, 1 download possible (actually when some files were deleted, people could download it again if they failed to do so in the first place). So no, it's not even possible to give away your beta key.

Also, criminal is way easier to play than enforcer, threat level grows with almost every action.

So you say, that if you play on 30FPS for a week and then turn on your FPS, mhh, over 100 or so, there is not difference?
There's a HUGE difference. For example SAMP. I go ingame, I have 25FPS, screen looks laggy, so I limit it to 40. It gets better, you can see that clearly, and if I turn FPS limiter off and get 100FPS, I see a HUGE difference between 40 and 100.

well alittle time ago i got a 2gb RAM upgrade. my fps before that was like max 30-40, but now its 70-90 (all checked with FRAPS fps meter).. To be honest, i dont see any difference (except dust lag, i dont have it anymore)

Yeah basicly it depends on how good the connection between you and the server is.
You should have a brand new real good computer in order to run APBR smoothly.

I'll take a bash at explaining... might get confusing though ;D
In sa-mp the damage dealt is done client side. Basically, that means that your game must see the shots being fired from your opponent at your character hitting you on YOUR screen ingame. This means that if you have low fps in sa-mp (of about 10) the players shooting at you are essentially shooting at slow motion to match up your game. That's one of the reasons why shots don't always sync up in mods like sa-mp and vc-mp. :P
The difference with APB however is that everything is done server side including shooting. So that means that aslong as a player hits another player the damage will always be dealt. For example if you have 10 fps in APB it gives no advantages to you what so ever since all the other player has to do is shoot your character on his screen regardless of wether or not your game seen the shots hit you. The server then registers the hit and sends a message to your game saying that you have been hit and to subtract x amount of HP. My description may not be exactly the way it's done but its something very similiar.

Alvar in newer games like APB or whatever you can't always expect to have 60 fps or above. 30 fps is totally playable and you will ofcourse notice the difference if you play with higher, but 30 is definitely playable.

APB sometimes hangs really bad. I don't know why this happens, is it game related or is it my pc? I can play BFBC2 fine, but APB seems to lag alot. This is really annoying in heavy combat. Any idea how to solve it?

@Faraday try disabling VOIP in-game, then restart your game and goto task manager, and kill the vivoxvoiceservice process - should help somewhat, there has been a lot of issue's with the in-game voip system, it's terrible :C

It also helps killing the process APB_Gecko.exe, not sure what it's used for but it takes a whole less CPU memory.

Alright, basically I have a computer that is basically near the minimum recommended specs for APB and I did a little tweaking to try and make it run better. Now I''m getting about double the FPS that I did before (from 20ish to 40ish) and I figured I would post this to help others in similar predicaments.
Editing the settings
1. Go to your APB programs file folder. For me, it''s in C:\\Program Files\\Realtime Worlds\\APB North America (Mine is in steamapps>commonfiles) Nasty
2. Click on the APBGame folder, then on the Config folder
3. Now click on the APBCompat.ini file and open it with notepad. If it''s read-only, right click on properties and uncheck the box
4. Go to file, save-as and save this file as a backup on your desktop
5. Ctrl-F and search for "BucketX" where X is the graphics slider that you use in-game. 1 being minimal, 2 being low, and so on. I''d imagine that most of you already running on minimal settings though. If you''re still running on high, I''d suggest turning down your graphics slider in game and seeing if that increases your fps. In other words search for bucket.. set stuff to false and make sure options are set to minimal in game (nasty)
6. Set the following values:

BlobShadows=False
LightEnvironmentShadows=False
MotionBlur=False
DepthOfField=False
AmbientOcclusion=False

Make these changes at your own risk, it may lead to game instability/crashes. In my experience though, I have been running way smoother than before and have yet to experience a crash (even though my computer is utter shit compared to many of your rigs).

Addendum:
You''re going to have to start APB without the launcher in order to keep your changes. To do so, go back to your APB program files folder, click on the Binaries folder and then click on the APB application in that folder. I would recommend creating a shortcut to this file on your desktop.

@Faraday you just add people as friends, and you'll see the coming online and offline.
@665 You can't avoid the queue, unless you're premium, there is some network problems where after a certain amount of players are online it starts lagging really badly, a queue has been put in place to prevent that from happening, hopefully they will fix this soon.
/pop it the amount of players online in that world.

Like at atart you have Double-B girl,so you press F on her and then choose "Pledge to Double-B". You can also buy guns and clothes and etc from her. You can press J and see ur progress of every "dood for missions" you unlocked, and see your level and see your level with those pledge ppl. So when you level up you unlock more and more stuff to buy from pledges and aslo from those JOKER machines. You can also buy ammo there,and mod your weaps,and ressuply your weaps there. And when you run out of ammo you can push 5 and resuply or change weapons with F or T ot I ! And thats it..just do your missions with others and youll get new stuff! :)
And yesh..we could play,but problem is that Im on Obeya EU and on some American server. :D

Okay after playing this game for a while now, I can't say I enjoy playing it very much.
The lag is terrible, the driving sucks, matchmaking sucks even harder (can't kill one single person in a mission), there's no way in knowing what weapon you should take, everything is so detailed and very hard to understand. Spawn locations when you die on a mission suck really bad, you always get faced away from the action. Tutorial missions suck because all they teach you is how to take a car and drive it..
Also it's impossible to hit someone when you are at a medium distance from your target. Also hit detection.. wtf? I just played a mission 1 on 1 with a guy, we spent like 2 mins shooting eachother, I saw hit marks everytime I shot at the guy and he just wouldn't die.
Why can't I change weapons when I'm in accuracy-mode?
Hotwiring a car.. First you have to press 'action' to hotwire it, then you have to press it again to actually enter the car. Every action is very time consuming. Kicking down a door stops the character, causing you to lose time, climbing a fence can be done smoothly but you have to hit the action button at the exact right time or you'll lose time by standing still and pressing it again. Mouse speed decreases in accuracy mode? wtfffff... This is really confusing because you're used to the mouse speed when you sprint or drive around, but when you're scoped it suddenly rotates much slower.
Missions are very confusing, the notifications aren't really eye-catching as they should be. You'll have to read teeny letters to actually know what your mission is. The stages constantly change which causes blips to move around on your map, without a notification. You need 4 pair of eyes to actually stay informed about everything that's going on, ammo levels (no health bar?), mission details, chat notifications etc.. And the lag.. ooooooh the lag..
The only thing I really like is the custom music player. And still they managed to make that complicated.
Another thing: the HUD is crammed with stuff I think I don't need. Top left corner some arrowtype meter which goes up and down.. Don't know what it's for, a green number and a red multiplier. Don't know what it's for. A radar which doesn't give me any information (no roads, no players no mission target markers), just cars & email boxes, why do I need that?
Bottom left: Chatbox which spams alot of stuff, so I don't bother to read it anymore. An email counter, which marks your new emails. Emails which are WAAAAAAAAY to long to be spending time on reading, (why do I need so much info?), not a decent interesting email or game information which could actually help, just some bullshizzle from characters or contacts.
Edit: After playing some more I realised that the camera following when you drive a car actually makes me noxious. Even when you just used your mouse to set the camera straight it still swings around when you make a turn. I also noticed that after a while a car which you ar shooting just vanishes (and it's not even that far). + Explosions make my sound go berserk.

Well.. I must say,the game is rly hard. And its hard becouse on some missions u face players that are 200 levels infront of you,so you cant expect to kill them easily.
Also about weapons.. every weapon have its stats where you can see how fast they shoot,how much damage they do etc. You can have 2 guns+Grenades at the same time,so you can combine weapons. For example (if you unlocked these idk) u can take uzis and a shotgun if youre close up fighter. Or you can take simple pistol and a sniper-like guns. Its all about stats of weaps and your style of fight. So APB is all about creating yourself. Its not SAMP. :P
Lag is bad sometimes yes,make sure your PC can handle APB,cuz its rly hardcore game. Also someone mentioned here that voice chat can couse lags,so you can kill that in task mngr. It helps a bit.
You know that you sometimes jump in some random gang. So you team up with them while they are doing their jobs far away from you so they finish objects before you get to them,so objects and locations can change quickly. Also there is other gang/enforcer that are doing thier objects.
Hud is confusing,yes. Radar is empty and that can suk sometimes. And sometimes you cant see enemies on the radar. That should be fixed in my opinion.
btw. You can push F12 to remove everything from your screen. :P
Driving is hard,but you can get used to it.
After all..its not samp and its pretty hard becouse its all about teming up and tactics. You just need some time to figure things out. And,yes..youll get pwned rly bad there,and it sux cuzz I guess youre used to samp gameplay and you know youre great on samp and thats why you might dislike APB. :D

It's not because I'm discussing this on a samp forum that I'm only used to the SA:MP gameplay. I play alot of games and APB is by far the least exciting for me. BFBC2 is also hard as a noob, you get pwnt alot in the beginning but it's WAY less confusing and way less laggy.
The voice process doesn't change much, and I think my pc can handle it just fine.
I don't expect to kill higher ranked players easily, I expect their so called and praised 'matchmaking' to work and put me up against players my level. I've only bought 2 guns and the first is a sniper like gun which gives me less advantage than the standard one, and the other one is like the standard one, but supposed to be better, but hasn't seemed that much better to me.
The driving is not hard, it's pure shit. The car only breaks, accelerates or turns about 1 second after I press the key. That is unacceptable. Unlocking stuff goes way too slow especially modifications. Generally unlocking goes way too slow, it doesn't keep me excited to unlock new stuff since the stuff I really want is only going to unlock for me in like 3 months (my guess).
