Title: Is there an unlag patch?
Post by: BikeDriver on July 24, 2010, 09:27:49 PM
hi guys!

i guess at least some of you have the same problem..

why does SAMP lag whenver there are dust particle effects on the screen?

if i fight on desert ground and somebody shots near me my FPS go down to like 2 for a 1 second. im sure im not the only guy with this problem.

is there any way to fix this?

I have same problem, but I found out it's the graphics card that has problems with it. Strange enough, on my Quadcore PC with HD4350 I have this problem, on my AMD X2 laptop with 8600M GS there's no problem. I'm not sure there's a patch for it, I usually try to avoid fights on sand/grass (I know, this isn't a real sollution).

well I know in slice's aranha project the dust is completely removed, along with some other things that cause lagg. Not sure how to remove that stuff tho, and touching those files can be risky :x

i doubt that friskyyy.

slice your stupid mod only removes that smoke which burnouts cause and the sparks when your tyres are shot. the desert dust is still there and causing lags.

HOW TO REMOVE? >:( >:( >:( >:(

depending on your system specs this may or may not help you, if you have integrated graphics then it'll help.
"This handy util reduces the size of gta3.img and gta_int.img by over 50%, which may help reduce the lag-stutter type effect on some maps. "

This is a bump, but im just gonna show a fix. Here it goes.

If you run an english cracked gta san andreas, and get this error from the StreamMem Fix (http://forum.sa-mp.nl/index.php?topic=23314.0)
(https://littlewhiteys.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi842.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fzz350%2FPedroJorge_01%2Fsanandreaslag.jpg&hash=5a4be0f214bb0ba2b33ae5aa43041bb177c2cbf4)

Download this (http://www.multiupload.com/JRZPS5M67A)
And move the gta_sa.exe to your GTA San Andreas Install folder.

It worked for me when i had this error today.

I have an integraed graphics card (on my desktop which is currently broken) if some1 shoots into the desert it will take me 5 seconds to recover.

try this http://www.mediafire.com/?6nu2pkuf3t4wh2v (http://www.mediafire.com/?6nu2pkuf3t4wh2v)

There is no dust when your driving a car, shooting the floor/walls. But smoke from guns is still there.

i might still have the .exe that peter from LVP made with dust and smoke removed

Try this: http://download.gta-expert.it/gta-san-andreas/patch-fix/172-antisabbia.html (http://download.gta-expert.it/gta-san-andreas/patch-fix/172-antisabbia.html)

it doesn't change any texture and it works ;) u won't see anymore the dust effect

Instructions are in italian, but i translate them here:

Installation:
Replace the file "effects.fpx" in the "GTA San Andreas\models\" folder.

a brand new PC wont help. the dust particle effects cause lags. same with the clouds. its either a bug or a compatibility problem.

i tested it with different (high end) video cards, quad and single core CPUs, different OS's, different RAM's different resolutions etc.

im quite sure it lags on your pc too if you shoot into desert sand.

This problem doesn't occur on every computer. For example on my laptop it works great (AMD Turion x2 2.0GHz), but on my pc (Core2Quad q8300 2.5GHz) it's a big issue. Even though my pc has a better CPU and graphics card, the problem exists. I'm sure Benny doesn't have this problem on his pc, otherwise he would've known it has nothing to do with just having a good pc (which he has, but probably he's lucky).

I got a decent computer and it doesn't lag anything.
Title: Re: Is there an unlag patch?
Post by: Swanson on November 10, 2010, 03:49:15 PM
Read what Bikedriver said, it's either a bug or compatibilty problem. Personally the compatibility problem sounds more plausible to me.

Post by: Marius on November 27, 2010, 12:03:41 PM
It's the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) that causes this, not bugs.
Certain GPU's and drivers react differently when rendering the dust or other particle effects.

Who says this is a bug, or even considers it as such ... just proves that he's, ahh ... nevermind.
