Title: What kind of PC setup do u guys have?

I'm not completely satisfied with my setup, sometimes I do get some minor lag during races.

Athlon 64 3500, socket 939 @ 2.2ghz
2048Gb Kingston HyperX DDR400
Nvidia Geforce 6600GT (OCd)
WD Raptor 10.000rpm 74GB

Athlon "Barton" XP 2500+
512 MB DDR400 RAM
ATI Radeon 9800Pro
One 500GB and one 120GB HDD

I often lag behind in races, especially if it's one of those custom maps build from scratch. Upgrades are postponed until GTA4 comes out for the PC though.

WD Raptor 10.000 RPM 74 GB (16 MB cache), WD Caviar 7200 RPM 500 GB (16 MB cache) and a WD Elements 500 GB external HDD.
A neat Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS is mah soundcard.

Spent too much on cooling, the CPU usually runs 30-35 degrees idle, 45ish under load (Thermaltake 120 eXtreme).
GFX idles at around 40 degrees.

raz0, if you get really desperate, I've got an old P4 2.8 GHz, 1GB PC3200 RAM with a GeForce 6800GT you can lend :P

About the in-game performance: my ping is always around 20, max 30, but I seem to lag sometimes if not always... Think that has to do with my FPS, which are a bit low sometimes. My FPS always drop near places with a lot of trees involved. But normally it runs pretty smoothly, lets say in the city and desert it runs okay!

Was really lucky with the CPU, its actually OVERclocked and UNDERvolted. Its at 1.225v, stock setting is 1.8ghz at 1.350
I run the game at 1600x1200 full details with 16x Anisotropic forced on in the driver. Never skips a frame.

But, none of this hardware stops me hitting lamposts or helps me drive better!

It's like a no-CD crack and it sounds illegal, but I don't really think it is. I mean, it requires you to have GTA installed (you can't play without the GTA files). I only downloaded the modified EXE for myself because my disk was scratched to shit.

But I mean, if your hard drive is faster than your disk drive, I would recommend losing the disk. Might help.
