http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/
Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the current outage of PlayStation Network & Qriocity services. We are currently working to send a similar message to the one below via email to all of our registered account holders regarding a compromise of personal information as a result of an illegal intrusion on our systems. These malicious actions have also had an impact on your ability to enjoy the services provided by PlayStation Network and Qriocity including online gaming and online access to music, movies, sports and TV shows. We have a clear path to have PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems back online, and expect to restore some services within a week.
We’re working day and night to ensure it is done as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and feedback.
Valued PlayStation Network/Qriocity Customer:
We have discovered that between April 17 and April 19, 2011, certain PlayStation Network and Qriocity service user account information was compromised in connection with an illegal and unauthorized intrusion into our network. In response to this intrusion, we have:
1. Temporarily turned off PlayStation Network and Qriocity services;
2. Engaged an outside, recognized security firm to conduct a full and complete investigation into what happened; and
3. Quickly taken steps to enhance security and strengthen our network infrastructure by re-building our system to provide you with greater protection of your personal information.
We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and goodwill as we do whatever it takes to resolve these issues as quickly and efficiently as practicable.
Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained.
For your security, we encourage you to be especially aware of email, telephone, and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive information. Sony will not contact you in any way, including by email, asking for your credit card number, social security number or other personally identifiable information. If you are asked for this information, you can be confident Sony is not the entity asking. When the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services are fully restored, we strongly recommend that you log on and change your password. Additionally, if you use your PlayStation Network or Qriocity user name or password for other unrelated services or accounts, we strongly recommend that you change them, as well.
still offline and credit card info might have been accessed :o

It will be fixed before that most likely. And We are supposed to be getting 30 free days of Playstation plus, some Identity protection for one year, 2 free games out of a list of 5 for ps3, or 2 free games out of a list of four psp. This is at least what i heard might very by country.
-
I heard you will get a cake
-
i heard im sitting here pointing laughing at u fags for still playing ps3!
-
the problem now is loads of ppl hear loads of stuff but in the meantime sony say .... not much lol.
i might start the rumour that psn will return in 3 weeks as a subscription only service
-
And in the meantime..... Halo Reach is great fun, shame i have to pay around about 2 quid per month to play it and every other 360 game online, but oh well... beats getting all ur personal info and credit card details stolen.
-
Wow...I just saw this topic and..it really made me feel better, IT'S NOT ONLY ME WHO CAN'T CONNECT TO INTERNET USING PS3, YAY...xD
That day I couldn't connect to the internet was a normal day just like any other day, the sun risen, I went to school, I ate then I came back home all cheered turning my ps3 on..THEN IT..DIDN'T CONNECT TO THE INTERNET.....IT JUST FELT TERRIBLE :'(.....though after I realized it's a global problem, sounds even more terrible

PSN slowly coming back online worldwide :D
edit: LMAO http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/05/16/email-password-reset-notice/
Update:
We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.
If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email.
bumpy road ahead for Sony

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/05/16/details-of-the-welcome-back-programme-for-scee-users-2/
check carefully.
4. Access to the 30 days free PS Plus subscription is only available for those countries where PS Plus is offered. You will have access to the PS Plus content planned for May for 30 days. Access to the free games and exclusive features finishes at the end of the 30-day subscription period. Anything you buy with exclusive discounts, dynamic themes and premium avatars are yours to keep forever.
sony giveth sony taketh away
-
The free games are yours to keep. It is only some of the content you get through PS Plus that will expire at the end of the month.
For a second I thought I had Misread something, if the games expired I would be Pissed off. idc about the PS Plus stuff if it expires it does.

“Access to the free games and exclusive features finishes at the end of the 30-day subscription period.â€
so after the free ps+ period is over we lose the ‘free games’, thats… dissapointing
Posted on 16 May, 2011 at 10:42 pm by Nick Caplin
look at it is that you’ll have access to lots of free content for 30 days, so should make for a busy month of gaming.
Posted on 16 May, 2011 at 10:45 pm by Nick Caplin
Apologies my message didn’t work. What I meant to say is that unfortunately that is the way PS Plus works, but if you look at as access to a lot of free content for a month, you should have a busy month of gaming.

I will receive 30 days of PS+ because I don’t own a PS+ subscription. I’m gonna choose inFamous and LBP, will these games disappear or become unavailable/unplayable when my free subscription of PS+ ends?

well thats no surprise, now i have no idea.
i feel sorry for psn+ subscribers, it looks like they are being offered very little compared to casual gamers who will consider 2 (temporarily) free games pretty good. most psn+ users i know already own most if not all of the games on offer
-
And to think I was just gonna update to the New Firmware. I think ill wait lmao till I know. If they expire I see no need for me to update.
