Well my current pc is 2 years and 3 months old and the stupid on board chip keeps over heating making it impossible to keep everything else cooled.
I replaced the thermal compond on my cpu ( which it pulled out of the mobo when removing the heat sink..... yea i know thats not good) and my gtx 260. they run fine but the mobo temps go nuts and make the gpu over heat and giving me crazy ass glitchs.
so i got a nice some of money coming in the next few weeks and decided to just replace the motherboard, ram and cpu.
Current spec's:
AMD Phenom Quad core 2.5ghz
Asus motherboard M3N78-VM
2x 2gb kingston ram + 2x 2gb O.Z. ram
GTX 260
2 month old rosewell 530 watt power supply ( my bfg 550w popped on me :( )
Now this is my parts im looking at:
Asus mother board SLI ready - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131636
2 of these ram sticks - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104238
AMD Six core processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851
now my question is should i get the above motherboard or a none SLI motherboard basically is sli worth the money? (graphic card price dont matter mobo does)
Love some input from yea nubs

What kind of graphic card u looking for ?
-
that motherboard is alright. multiple grahpics cards are pretty useless but the problem is that you cant find really good motherboards with only 1 PCI express 2.0 16x slot so just buy it and nevermind that you have a second slot.
i dont quite understand you btw..
first you say that your onboard graphics chip keeps overheating and then you say that you have a GTX 260? WAT?!
also: if you buy that CPU then you need a better graphics card too because otherwise the CPU will never be fully occupied.
also make sure to buy a mugen 2 cpu fan. she is awesome and cheap :)
btw AMD's bulldozer 8 core CPUs will come in a few months and then you need a new motherboard again (AM3+) so i think you should waittttttttt

How much does that one cost bike? cuz im lookin for a new one
-
about 40€ / $70
unbeatable price for a noiseless cpu fan. you cant hear it at all. the only thing you might hear is the sound of floating air.
i dont hear my PC at all if i turn off my case fans. but then the HDDs turn pretty warm over time..
-
ok so i decided on going with the parts you see listed and seeing that i have the extra cash im toying with the idea of getting a new graphic card. so which do you guys think is better of the two?

GTX550 Cuz its the new upgraded version of the 450 ? It only makes sense tbh going from 450 to 550.
I would deffo go for the 550 since it has better clock speeds and newer OpenGL
GTS450:
Core Clock: 882MHz
Shader Clock: 1764MHz
Stream Processors: 192 Processor Cores
Effective Memory Clock: 3800MHz
GTX550:
Core Clock: 951MHz (vs. NV Ref. 900 Mhz)
Shader Clock: 1903 Mhz (vs. NV Ref. 1800 Mhz)
Stream Processors: 192 Processor Cores
Effective Memory Clock: 4356 Mhz (v.s. NV Ref. 4100 Mhz)
You will notice the difference between the clock speeds. The GTX550 looks like a overclocked version of the normal 550 Nvdia produced as you can see inbetween the ()

kmann you are a RETARD
dont buy nvidia and AMD..
you already decided to buy AMD so you HAVE TO buy ATI 6xxx... you have to decide how much cash you want to spend..
something like this is by far better than GTX550 crap:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121419
benchmark charts:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
adeon HD 6850 2,831
GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1,835
-
I do agree with bikedriver on this kmann. It would only make sense if u use AMD CPU you just use ATI videocard since AMD bought ATI. So their drivers would be even more in sync with eachother specially the latest releases of video cards 5xxx or 6xxx
-
i would have to say you too are wrong i have another system with the same card and a AMD phemon II 1045T six core and it gets 30 fps in bc2 on all high as where my gtx 260 gets the same. i also dont really like ATI's driver support.
-
of course all the newer cards wil run this bullshit fluently but the benchmarks prove that ATI is bettaaar than Nvidia.
ATIs are cheaper, need less power, are cooler and due to that quieter too (most of them at least). also as wildstyle retard said: ATI works better with AMD. of course you will not notice this in your old shit games but go play some newer shit in full HD and you will see............. ??? :-[ >:(

GTX 460 SE
ahahahahahahahahahahah :-*
-
one more thing my BOARD IS A NVIDIA CHIP SET BOARD...
-
Actually ATI and AMD run hotter than intel and Nvidia do lol bikedriver lol. And yes kmann ofcourse AMD will run just fine with Nvidia. But honestly i would just go for Intel+Nvidia or AMD+ATI.
Ive had nvidia before and i really didnt like it and now i got ATI and i love it.

right. AMD CPUs run hotter than intel CPUs but Nvidia cards run far hotter than ATI cards. you can cook water with an Nvidia GTX 5XX.

Goodluck cooking ur water m8. Ill just boil it instead :D

Since I had ATI on my old pc, it was suck a fucking video card, and I change it.Now I'm using Nvidia and it's better. So purchase Nvidia! ;)

IN GERMANY YOU COOK WATER :)

I'm obviously no expert but doesn't it depend on the graphics card specs and your computers' limits and not so much the brand?
-
i recommend you to nvm freaks nonsense..
if you compare nvidia and ati graphics cards of the same price range then the ATI one will most likely be cooler (=quieter), also it needs less power and is slightly faster than NVidia.
-
right. AMD CPUs run hotter than intel CPUs but Nvidia cards run far hotter than ATI cards.

no professor, but i went to a computer science school for 3 years and by your second last post i can see that you have no idea what your talking about.
-
"Personal opinion".. know this word? ;)
And also no way ATI is cooler than nVidia cards. Got a nVidia myself and my friends' ATIs go way hotter (comparable cards)

Well I know what I'm trying to say :]

I like ATI over Nvidia any day. Just cause Ive had so many problems with Nvidia and none on my ATI Radeon HD card.
-
i have started a nvidia vs ATI battle here,.....
well parts will be in some time tomorrow so ill take a pic of when its all done. lets just hope nothing is DOA or ill cry!
-
seems its all about personal preference with some random 'facts' thrown in D:
my current pc is an AMD/ATI combo and it runs much cooler and uses less energy than my old P4/Nvidia combo :-\
what?

well its done!

LMFAO? Biker stfu.
ATI is fuckin atrocious. I've literally had like 4 ati cards in a row burn the fuck up on the stock fan.
Never wasting my money on ATI again. Only reason i'll be getting another ATI card is because I have a lifetime warranty/replacement through XFX on my last burnt up card.
Thats also a good thing to point out @ Kman. XFX is really good because if you buy a card and it burns up a year or 2 years later you still have a lifetime warranty/replacement so you never get screwed. That's literally the ONLY way I would ever buy an ATI card is through XFX.
-
you bumped a 20 days old topic just to tell me to stfu? :D
-
Relax dude. How's it going anyway?
Do you even still play samp?
-
Well i think u handled ur cards wrong then Abnormal, cuz ive had this ATI card for over a year now and its awesome. No trouble what so ever. And the Nvidia card i had before this ATI card well ive always had trouble with it.
The only thing im afraid of is my mobo burning out, cuz ive seen some bad reviews on it on the net.
