So you dont get to the OS select menu? k.. Erm,only I can think of atm is to check BIOS settings and make sure every component of it is working properly(if you know what should work properly) and you can try setting bios to defaults. Also, what I would do is unplug PC,open it and reconect every component of it. Then try to turn it on again. You can also try to start ur pc with windows cd/dvd (for that you need to set CD/DVD ROM boot type) Try few things..idk what else to say. :-\

Keep it updated! x)

it can be everything, including corrupted hardware.

if you think its the ram then try to unplug them and use only 1 ram module and try to start again.

Wai u dont haz FLOPPY!? :P

yes,as divebyker said..try RAM hax. Also you could try repairing Windows or Linux with cds..it migh fix some errors if it can be fixed that way, and it could. Just try something. Or call pepels to fix it,if you dont know anything about it,or youre affraid of loosing/damaging HDD or some other stuff if its not damaged enough already. x(

Try this

On your motherboard there is a round silver looking thing, Thats your Bios battery take that out, wait 10 seconds and put the battery back in.

If ur problem still occures then i blame it on the ubuntu sticker on the front of ur PC case and on the Intel logo at the start of ur PC. (just kiddin ofc)

Bios battery looks like this. The round silver thingy in the black socket. It also clearly states on the battery. That its a battery

So you buy a new PC when the only problem is ur HDD? Right ok thats like buying a new car cuz ur old car has a flat tire....

His PC only does 1 short beep and according to the list of beepcodes it should run fine. which it doesnt lol.

If u wanted to try and get stuff off your hdd at this point then "knopix live cd" (http://www.knoppix.net/ (http://www.knoppix.net/)) might be a good idea. If you have access to another computer download knopix live - burn it on to a cd disk (follow the instructions) then place it in ur cd drive on start-up (of the damaged computer) Hopefully, your computer will run from the cd (its an entire OS on a cd).

You may need some "command lines" (get them from the interweb) for language and kb change (otherwise its in German). Then you can access the  hdd and save info on to usb sticks -so long as mo-bo/usb stuff is not damaged.

Other than rescuing your data (and that's if the HDD is not too corrupted) i have no more ideas about this.

The things i could do with a slightly malfunctioning PC.. Oh boy :D

Ive stacked up tons of PCs over the years lol.

Right now ive got about 7 PC cases and 3 of them are empty. Other 4 dont have any Harddrives cuz 2 of them broke and the other 2 are in this PC now :D and in a external HDD case.
Im gunna start experimenting with overclocking with the other PC components soon. Havent done that yet and id like to get into that stuff some more :D

I can build PCs now, Soon i can overclock them, then i wanne be able to modify them. And then ill fly em to the moon (jk jk)
