Cool,,,, just checked it! :)
Well, it will be updated , but i like the amunation system +1 for it! :)
Keep it up guys ! :)
-
Pretty naked version, as you have removed many things but overall it seems to be a solid basis for future updates.
A few bugs here and there... but as long as you work hard in order to fix them it should be fine in a few months.
I liked the completly new balance regarding weapons, cash etc.
Let's see where this gets.
-
Finally, the old disappointment changed to a great joy!
I will be surfing the new gamemode and will hunt any bugs! Good job, guys. You've been awesome. Thank you so much!
-
Ill come in when i get more time.
-
Great work Faraday and thanks! ;D
-
What an awesome surprise!
As SpitFire mentioned, not only staff can report bugs: Head over to http://dev.littlewhiteys.co.uk, create an account, submit bugs or change requests and help this version improve!
-
yeeeeeeeeeesss !!!!!!!!
-
I like the update but one small issue. When buying spawn weapons you must pay for it after death which i dont mind. However what if you die and your money is set to zero? The weapons will disappear. Also when you do pay for the weapons when you respawn sometimes it does not give all the bullets you bought originally.
-
I haven't noticed that though :o Gonna explore for some bugs too.
-
Bump! What happened to this?
-
Apparently it was too buggy and yet too incomplete to go as permanent server mode, and the playercount did drastically decrease after the update, so it was decided to revert to 2.9.1

True that.It had so many bugs that made it look really awful. This gamemode is good enough for people,so they can enjoy all the fun server brings! :)
Also,as Ezno mentioned, playercount was even worse than before....It was like 0-5/6 players a week, which was really boring. All in all,it wasnt as good as we thought it was gonna be.
-
lol runi you are such a fucking asshole and you don't even notice it yourself
With a little more polishing / balancing 3.0.0 could have worked out better than 2.x.x. But anyway.. it is highly questionable whether that would have improved the playercount.
My thoughts still remain: revert LW to the 2008 version with the same rules and I might play again.. speaking of once in a while of course ;)
-
I have to somewhat agree with you there, bikedriver. Alot of hours were probably put into this new version and it feels like you don't care about this at all, runi.
I do think the changes were a bit radical however and i feel like updating things in general would have sufficed for me.
I could imagine not even half of the features samp has today were available when this script was written.
-
Okay,i get what are you trying to say there, but there's no need for insulting/arguing any further.I respect the update, but I don't want a totally random update full of freaking bugs, ffs. You'll have to understand that I have less experience than you guys, soon or later. Also, why are you telling me that? Did I mention 3.0.0 is bad in anyway? Nope.
You can tell staff what are you missing and what do you really want, especially you BikeDriver, since I can't help ,neither I have any power.Thank you for understanding!
-

Little.....Get wrecked please.
Before saying anything, think of the sentence /story you might wanna say, next time.
-
lol runi it's not like you countered me yourself, scary little kiddo :))
But cute attempt, spend 5 more years on LW and you might actually be able to make me rage ;D
Anyway...
Little or not... the problem is not the amount of bugs, but the amount of frustration, brought by the lack of instant success. I am quite sure if slice went on speed again, he could fix all those bugs within a week.. if he cared enough lol
-
The problem is: LW's has tried to reinvent themselves. But things didn't go fast enough. It needs time, dedication and thoroughness. 3 things that are the hardest to achieve.
I myself am responsible for the release of 3.0.0 and I take full responsability. It was an open beta, and succeeded as such. It did not succeed as a game mode. LW's has grown throughout the years and is impossible to recreate without having a normal life outside of the community. Been there, done that.

As much as i want to avoid spamming,i still have to defend myself.I couldn't care less about you and your life as you said yourself before, bikedriver(including your replies here). The only thing i want is a peaceful community which has some respect to all its members.I can't call myself ,an old and experienced LW Member',but can't call myself a ,newbie',either.I just express myself everyone i think they(opinions - replies) MIGHT be useful. The things i've just told you are maybe off topic, but it's just that everyone needs to know.Thank you for understanding, again!

FUSE ? YOUR BOMB FUSE

YOU COULD:)))))))
Thank you for understanding!
I DON'T:)))))))
can't call myself a ,newbie',
ez newbie ez:)))))))
K ontopic: I think, serversided cash was an overkill. Who hacks cash nowadays and gets away with it...? Don't you admins enjoy to be able to ban somebody once in a while? :))
Could probably have avoided tons of problems without it.
-
Who hacks cash nowadays and gets away with it...?
actually a quite more fair ammount of people than we would be willing to admit.

You forgot to add that the 3.0 new property system suck monkey ballz enzo :D
-
I forgot to add so many things....
3.0.0 and the later 3.0.1 were capable alpha versions, they had good ideas and would have solved many problems if continued. But if they were one thing, they were not yet fit for beta, and certainly not for the main server.
3.0.1 was actually ment to be a bug fix for 3.0.0, which it certainly did on some points, yet it desperately lacked features LW players love and wanted to see. 3.1 would've been the version for the addition of new features. If you want to ask what happened to this, ask where the development of 3.1 stands.
-
I was inactive for the entire 3.0 development/release/trial, so I can't comment directly on what went on there. But I want to give a perspective on LW's codebase.
I just did a quick line count of LW's code, and it came out to just over 50,000 lines. When you're on the server and your friends just disconnected and you're starting to be bored, it might not seem like there are a lot of things going on... but there are. A developer attempting to recreate LW's from scratch would be faced with all of them. You might think, oh, LW's is easy, let's just make some gangs and some banking and we're done, shouldn't be too hard, right? But no, then you remember the races, and the hunting, and the admin system, and the anti-hacking measures, and the dueling, and the vehicle set, and the IRC echo... Generally these features are not hard to implement individually, but when you consider all of them together the list becomes very intimidating.
It is not at all surprising to me that LW 3.0 was lacking in features, considering the above. Rewriting LW's from scratch would be an enormous undertaking. That's not to say it can't be done, but I estimate it would take me several months to do it, up to half a year, while working on nothing else significant. That's a huge amount of time for a project that that doesn't, and will never, pay. I'm sure the 3.0 developers tried their best to reimplement the most important of LW's features, but there are just so many that even that seemed bare-bones.
Now add to the sheer volume of code the fact that all of the code is built on a system, GTA:SA, that was never designed for it, and the task becomes even harder. You can take something that seems like a good idea, for example keeping track of the cash on the server side, but then the system makes it impossible because it turns out that clients can do so many things (gambling, pay-n-spray) that are not synced with the server.
So, with that in mind, instead of getting rid of the current codebase and starting over, my strategy since I've been developing LW's has been to try to find relatively easy-to-implement features and changes that nevertheless have the potential to make a difference to gameplay---in other words, changes that seem to have a high payoff to work ratio. The hunting system, the events, and now the persistent gangs (http://forum.littlewhiteys.co.uk/index.php/topic,20516.0.html) that I'm working on are all examples of additions that seemed that way to me when I was making them. While the current codebase may not be perfect, I do my best to work with it, because rewriting it is not feasible at this point.

A very pragmatic approach. I could never recommend rewriting littlewhitey's server now after seeing rewrites ultimately fail again and again. It's good to see you on the developer team Chainer!
-
Thanks for all the "thanks"!
-
I have to admit that im surprised with your work. ;) Good luck Chainer, you will need it.

If someone had told me that years ago I would not have believed it. It's cool to see old names coming back and making an impact on this community.

There are fresh news about the server updates if you read around...and this time it's true!
