Can you guys give me a hand with setting up a gaming pc? I don't really know much about the latest hardware and I and thought that some of you could advise me a little.
- Budget: 1000 € or so
- air cooling
- I don't like much AMD or ATI, since i had a lot of bad experiencies in the past.
- what I have more doubts about is what processor to pick, i5 or i7?
- I don't need the best GPU, just a decent one which would let me play most of the latest games like "gtaV" or "Watch dogs"

That will need a quite decent graphics card, yes...
Please give us some more details: Do you want to set the PC up by yourself from scratch, or do you have a base rig you want to upgrade?

GTA V too o/
But 1.000 Euromonies should be enough to at least nearly max it out, as it is still based on the old engine.
I'd buy something like this, if I was an Intel fag D:
1 x Samsung 840 EVO 2,5" 120 GB, SSD - € 69,90*
1 x Intel® Core™ i7-4820K, CPU - € 294,-*
1 x MSI X79A-GD45 Plus, Mainboard - € 169,90*
1 x MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr, Graphics Card - € 279,-*
1 x GeIL DIMM 16 GB RAM DDR3-1866 Kit,... - € 132,90*
1 x Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE, DVD-Burner- € 17,79*
1 x Sharkoon MA-M1000, Case - € 34,99*
1 x Scythe Mugen 4 SCMG-4000, CPU-Cooler- € 38,99*
€ 1.037,47*
Pretty nice, actually and really all you need for an entire system.
But be aware that the longer you wait, the better the system you get for 1.000 Euromonies.
-
Holy shit, forgot the PSU.
1x be quiet! Pure Power BQT L7-630W, PSU - € 69,90*
1 x Samsung 840 EVO 2,5" 120 GB, SSD - € 69,90*
1 x Intel® Core™ i7-4820K, CPU - € 294,-*
1 x MSI X79A-GD45 Plus, Mainboard - € 169,90*
1 x MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr, Graphics Card - € 279,-*
1 x GeIL DIMM 16 GB RAM DDR3-1866 Kit,... - € 132,90*
1 x Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE, DVD-Burner- € 17,79*
1 x Sharkoon MA-M1000, Case - € 34,99*
1 x Scythe Mugen 4 SCMG-4000, CPU-Cooler- € 38,99*
€ 1107,37
Now it's 1.107,37 ;D :P. I am quite sure it should be capable of maxing out GTA V.
If that's too much I could push it down to 1.000 Euromonies if you want (weaker CPU).
-
120GB harddrive seems a bit sparse. But maybe that's just my opinion, i personally have problems to get by with 4,5TB at hand.
-
It's an SDD.
I am quite sure he has enough HDDs.
But yes, it's up to him to decide how much space he needs for games and the OS. I personally would have absolutely no problem with 120GB.
-
Well, for the same price he could have 1 or 2 TBs HDD. I'd say SDD is an extra. SDDs are veeeery fast but expensive, they are a good place to install the OS and programs, also a good tool to record videos (due to its high writing speed).
-
SSDs are a must-have in a 1.000 Euromonies gaming PC.
Anybody who thinks differently does apparently not know or has never experienced the exact differences between SSDs and HDDs. You would never believe how much time you save throughout an entire year of usage. Time that you can waste playing video games, woohoo!!!! :D
As he already owns a computer, I am 100% sure that he already owns at least 2 TB of HDDs. The only logical conclusion is to use an SSD as the OS drive and old HDDs as data junkyard.
-
What about the OS?
Operating systems ain't cheap. Windows at least...
-
Windows Loader any1?
If you can't life with that buy a fucking 64 Bit professional W7 OEM DVD + License for 25 Euromonies on ebay. That's 100% legal.
-
Nah, the Professional has no minesweeper preinstalled.
-
i7 CPU for a gaming rig? Get another cpu and spend the money you save on a better GPU.
-
Maybe.. depends on what he wants to do exactly.
-
i guess he wants to play games.
-
Well let's see this retard reply first :P
-
Well i'm going to set it up all by myself (whish me luck :D). I don't have a desktop computer, just a shitty laptop which is giving me a lot of trouble lately. It will not be just for games, I just want to set up one that will last me at least 3 years without any issues or other upgrades. I'm not that fussy with the graphics being high, all I want is a good gameplay without lag and a good framerate.
What @BikeDriver suggested me seems pretty cool. I think I'm buying that. A 120gb sdd should be enough for me i guess.
Thanks a bunch for the help and sorry for the late reply.

what do you think about this one? http://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair_cx750_750w_builder_series_80_plus_bronze.html (http://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair_cx750_750w_builder_series_80_plus_bronze.html)

The Corsair CX series is quite low quality, hence why it's cheap and boutique builders cram it into their systems.
A good alternative to that is this (http://www.amazon.es/dp/B008O50WGA/?tag=pcp02-21).

Here's my take on the build, if you haven't ordered any of the parts yet
CPU: i7 4770k (http://www.amazon.es/dp/B00CO8TBQ0/?tag=pcp02-21) - €269
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO (http://www.alternate.es/Cooler-Master/Hyper-212-Evo/html/product/915234?) - €30
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Sniper (http://www.alternate.es/GIGABYTE/G1-Sniper-Z97/html/product/1138886?) - €145
RAM: - G Skills Ripjaws (http://www.amazon.es/dp/B007W6YJ1Q/?tag=pcp02-21) - €79
Storage: - SSD (http://www.alternate.es/Samsung/840-EVO-2-5-120-GB-SSD/html/product/1090483?) and HDD (http://www.amazon.es/dp/B00461G3MS/?tag=pcp02-21) - €72 and €45
Graphics card: GTX 770 4GB (http://www.alternate.es/Gainward/GeForce-GTX-770-Phantom-4GB/html/product/1083576?) - €330
Case: - Thermaltake Urban (http://www.alternate.es/html/highlights/page.html?tk=7&hgid=2&tgid=1386) - €60
Total: €1030 (minus the power supply)
Couple of things about this build
- Newer motherboard (z97) compatible with the new generation of Intel CPUs (devils canyon/broadwell) in case you want to upgrade down the line
- RAM is only 8GB, which is just the right amount if you're only gaming. You can add one 1x4 stick if you feel the need but this should be just fine
- 4GB of VRAM in the graphics card, as Watchdogs just proved a little while ago, VRAM is now becoming a bottleneck for most people in the newer games, and it'll only be used more and more from now on.
The entire thing links to local Spanish stores, so you should have no trouble ordering parts or even replacing parts. Only used 2 (Amazon and Alternate.es) for the sake of convenience.
One thing you could do improve this is to wait till the end of June for the i7 4790k and get that, should offer you greater performance and overclocking potential for about the same price. To drive down the costs of the build, simply get a cheaper variants of the motherboard/GPU/Case and get a i5 4670k (or the 4690k at the end of this month). The i7 offers negligible gaming performance over the i5.

Had fun installing the Mugen, yes? :))
-
nice one, maybe you should do some cable management though :D
-
Looks nice,well done,shiz. :)
-
Last picture, inception! :D lel
-
Gimme it! Gimme! I want it! EPIC
-
Btw.. make sure that you have connected the SSD and the HDD to SATA 3 ports. They should be white and label SATA1_2 or similar.
-
Also make sure that you have connected the RAM dimms to different channels for dual channel mode.
From the left to the right the order is:
Channel1_1, Channel1_2, Channel2_1, Channel2_2 |||| CPU |||| Channel4_2, Channel4_1, Channel3_2, Channel3_1
The manual recommends one of the following in order to enable dual channel:
Channel1_1, Channel2_1
or
Channel1_1, Channel4_2
or
Channel1_1, Channel3_1

yea..i had a great time :D I dind't expect it to be so big. I felt kinda stupid trying to figure out how to put the damn fan.

I know, it's all messed up now. I need to make sure that everything works as expected first.

The display is not turning on during start up. I checked all cables to be sure everything was fine, but for some reason it doesn't turn up. The fans of the graphic work fine and that made me think that the graphics might not be the problem.
I didn't know there was an order for connecting RAM dimms, I just put one on each side of the processor (blue slots). I'll check that out as soon as I get home.

That might already be your reason.
Also check if you have connected the additional power connectors of the graphics card (1x 6 pin, 1x 8 pin) and the upper power connector of your motherboard (8 pin)
