[I]Dialog Buttons.
« on: April 06, 2010, 03:53:04 PM »
Good day folks. Over the years I've been noticing Littlewhiteys becoming more and more like a real video-game. Not just a client. Also, with the new property system / experience / achievments coming soon, Littlewhiteys is about to level the playing field. The new dialog / scroll boxes are really neat, and fancy. Everything seems really professional. (But not too professional). Every server needs to have SOME bugs.. Or else players wouldnt be able to try to find them. (Like driving a monster truck into the duel arena). I think thats why nobody plays GTA4. It's too realistic.

But.. I believe Littlewhiteys lacks one thing. Dialog boxes in the main gameplay screen. There are so many /commands. And when you type /commands, a huge list appears. I think you should have three or four useful dialog buttons in on the top or bottom of the screen. Boxes such as.. "Properties" "Gangs" "Locate Player" "Achievments" Etc.. Rather than having to type it in, i think a GUI beats command-line for our current age in gaming. Although most regulars have memorized the commands, i think it's time to evolve into dialog boxes. Discretely place them in the corner of the screen, not to interrupt a player's gameplay.

"Properties" Instead of /properties 1-4, will show a list of every property (Large scroll box (like when you press tab)), and the owner / current price. (Since prices will fluctuate with new system). Also, if you plan to add more properties, whats it going to be? /properties 1-10? That's chaotic.

"Locate Player" is nice because the current /locate is bugged. Half the time it responds nothing. Not even "Is hiding in an inerior" message. Also, i think it would be neat to find out what interior they're inside of. Not specific. Just general. Ex; Inside burger shot. This button will be a list of where everyone is, without having to type their ID.

"Gang" should be the main hub of gang management. You can create, invite, register, etc.. I've seen Zam's new gang dialog box system, and its kickass. But it would not be as cool if it were initiated by a /gang command. Just make a button on-screen.

Achievments speaks for itself. You get the point.

End to the /'s !

+ or - ?

No need in removing the / cmds. In any case there'll be the option to use both.

Maybe this thread would fit better in the Suggestions subforum, but I think it's a good idea and I thought the same when I played Samp (in any server) for the first time. Nobody likes to type lots of commands, MS-DOS evolved into Windows, Linux is complementing the command line interface with a graphical user interface (GUI) which each time allows you to do more things, and Samp (or at least some servers like this) should do the same.

Yeah guys, I apologize for the wrong section. I initially began it as a discussion, but as I typed onward, it evolved into a suggestion :p

But i was thinking of an issue. There is no mouse on the ganescreen. So, it's impossible. Unless you program a box that pops up when a key is pressed, and THERE you will see the buttons / mouse. (Not a command). I agree, the commands should stay. Just like the command prompt is still with us in Windows 7. But i think most players, especially those who arent used to the commands will love the GUI buttons. Everything in SA-MP is proprietary.

Rollover cables are supposed to be blue, Crossover cables are supposed to be yellow, and Straight through cables are supposed to be gray. Yet, companies such as Sony and Belkin completely disregard the standard, and make purple, black, green, and all sorts of colors. SA-MP is the same way. Every server has completely different commands. Some servers use /help. Some /commands. GUI is idiot-proof.

Well, something that I think is perfectly scriptable, is a system of menus like those ones you see when you go to the bank, to Ammunation or to the race hosting red mark. In those menus you need no mouse pointer. Maybe you would have to type a command to make the menu appear, but it would be very simple to the player.
