Epic lag when playing Samp in an old Pentium 4
« on: November 05, 2010, 07:30:54 PM »
I usually play in a newer and more powerful laptop which runs better, but as I'm trying a pirated version of Fraps, I prefer to do it on my old Pentium 4 desktop.

As you can see, it lags most when there is much action around, whereas in the quiet Ammunation interior it runs smoothly.

That's why the other day I was asking if there's any mod to REDUCE my graphics quality so it increases performance, because right now it's already configured to the minimum available resolution and the lowest quality efects.

well lags when fraps is running are pretty normal. at least for a pentium 4...

read this topic for some mods that make your game as fast as possible:

if you want less lags while fraps is running:
- fraps only in "half size" mode
- save the video files on a different hard drive
- dont record sound unless you really need/want the sound effects..

if i fraps in half size i still get about 60-80 fps in most parts of LV. in full size mode its more like 40-60..
btw the files are HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE if you fraps in full-sized mode on 1920x1200... 38 seconds in FULL HD + sound record = 2,2 GB .___________.

Samp lags a lot in that old computer when there are many elements on screen, no matter if I use Fraps or not.
And yeah I record in half-size and at only 20 or 25 frames per second to minimize the space taken by the videos, because you are right in that they take a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE LOT of disk space!!!!
