An odd question:
« on: April 28, 2011, 09:56:15 PM »
Yesterday i found out my computer has a  "Intel(R) 6 Series Chipset issue" (this is what the website says) The issue causes the sata ports to degrade quicker than usual (something to do with silicone i think - or porn might be mixed up here).

So i ring up the people, who put me through to someone else, who have never heard of this (this is from both HP and intel site, so the issue is real and affects my computer). Now a part is going to need replacing (or so i suspect). so my question is:

Which part is going to need replacing? i would guess mobo (as it has the sata ports on it) but guy on the phone thought it could be HD or Disk drive. Would it be all three?

http://www.intel.com/consumer/products/processors/chipset.htm see told you its real!

i found this

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4142/intel-discovers-bug-in-6series-chipset-begins-recall

you screwed man you better throw out PC of window :)

that site says
"The fix requires new hardware, which means you will have to exchange your motherboard for a new one. Intel hasn't posted any instructions on how the recall will be handled other than to contact Intel via its support page or contact the manufacturer of your hardware directly."

so you better tell this intel whores to pay a new mb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks lol

Actually update: Found out my comp has a AMD chipset! :D lol completely missed it before without realising (yeah nub thing, but it was late at night and i was just hoping my comp wasnt affected). Will ring up tech people and tell them tomorrow. No part of my computer is intel :D so it cant/shouldnt be effected, should it?

Anyways, just in case im wrong, and it has to go in, at least i know what to tell them. Thanks for finding out the website, i searched, but couldnt find it o0
