Sorry for late response. I've had quite the busy week. I also had to read this several times because it's hard to understand. I'll do my best.
Zool likes to make a habit of telling other players how to mod their game. I'm not just talking about visual mods, I mean how to change the in-game physics, how to set your own weather, etc. I've also caught him showing map bugs to players at least 3 times (and explaining the benefits of hiding or evading in said map bugs), and I've punished him each time for it.
The last time I caught him doing it, I told him that I was going to mute him for 1 day (24 hours), which I felt was reasonable considering all the warnings I had given him prior. I'm not sure if he was doing it to mess with me, or he thought maybe I wouldn't notice, but he would periodically reconnect and I would have to mute him again. Since I was only planning on being on for a few hours, I left and came back the next day and continued his mute. Once again, he quit. He even admitted this in his post.
After I came back on the 3rd day and tempbanned him, he made several comments about something "bad" happening to me, which I perceived as a threat. Another admin that I won't name offered to ban him from IRC, but I declined. I hope you understand how nice I was to you Zool, and if you continue to act the same way I won't be nice again.
Perhaps I should have just shunned him for a day, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to unshun him, and I felt like that was taking it too far. I have no problem with Zool except for his inclination to tell new players how to break rules, and he's a troll (but there's no rule against that
)
It's been a few days so hopefully when Zool comes back he'll be a lot more careful about what information he gives to players.
