Allowing Players To Create Events
« on: September 15, 2010, 04:26:55 AM »
A summary of the changes that you want

1- A Event System Similar to the race system and possibly the duel arena system which could just be a minor change from the way admins can do it know - which allows to set a location for a event (in a virtual world) (prizes set up like you would a race) (Amount of people allowed in it, and how many teams, randomly set teams)

The advantages of this change happening

1- When no Admins are around, Players can make events.
2- Less Admin stress (so they can play, and have more fun and watch hackers)
3- Would Make the server more fun (i would deffinetly make events if this was on lw)
4- More Players

The disadvantages of this change happening

None

Any script snippets which provide the feature that you want

N/A

Voted no. Script should host the events, not players.

Voted yes. This is good idea, cause we need more activity in server, when no admins online.

Script? do you mean autohosted events by the system? the same way that autohosted races were suggested?

Agreed, there needs to be some in between time for events. If events are created one after each other then they'll lose the specialness that events are for.

What should be incorporated into the script are generic events (hosted regularly, same things over and over) which give players things to do and a special events system (hosted less regularly, have different properties, announced/suggested on forums) which are an attempt to attract players.

But then the events would be autohosted by the system? and would the money of the prizes be given by the system, or by a player who spends his own money on putting those prizes?

1. Yes, that's what I said.
2. That's not really an issue, there's multiple ways I'd be happy with this. Players could buy tickets to fund the event (for ingame economy reasons, donations would be accepted) or the money could be generated. I do prefer the first personally due to it helping balance the ingame economy.

Well the idea of the autohosted events sounds good, but maybe you should do it with the races first.

Also, the few events that I have seen were very similar to each other, in which you ended up doing almost the same as in the main gamemode: shooting on foot running from one side to another, so those events had nothing special. I'm not saying that those events shouldn't be made, but it would be good to have also some ones about different things that you don't normally do in the main gamemode, to have more variety. I have seen other servers in which the events are totally different from the main gamemode, and some of them are quite original.

Yeah like capture the flag or something, I think there are a few ideas for different events written down somewhere :)

But as Simon reaffirmed, events should be hosted by the script (system, you name it) and not by players. Occasionally admins can host their own personal events yes but that's separate.

Rejected anyway ;[
