[REJECTED]Spec for donators.
« on: May 18, 2009, 08:26:19 PM »
Okay I might as well write the suggestion here..

My idea is this: Donators may enter the ammo shop, or some interior far away then go into a marker or type a command or something so they can spec other ppl. Personally I love specing ppl when they stunt and stuff, and you could spec and fraps hackers/switchers/cbuggers too and be helpful that way. I don't see any disadvantages cept for some scripting.

This can be easily abused. Any one of the donators could spec someone just to find out where they are, and that would give them a huge advantage.

As far as specing people for bug abuse or cheating... well that's what admins are usually for. Most of the time there's more than enough admins/mods on anyway.

Most of the time there's more than enough admins/ ONLY ONEmod on anyway.

Ok Seriously. I think this is a good suggestion, but I also have my doubts about it. As CJ said, watching ppl for cbug/switch/cheats is admins job. Also when there are no admins/mods online there is the Cheater reports section on the forum.
As for to just spying on people, it really sounds fun, and is a great way to be afk (if they don't disconnect) or just watching, and helping eachother out. But also, it could be abused (as an advanced /locate).
But if it were accepted, I think it should let people know they're being watched by donators or something. Like when someone's duelling, you can watch them from their angle, to see their aiming etc.. but It should give them a warning message..

They were warned, and if I remember correctly, a few were banned and they all left after that.

If I remember correctly, one of those members was banned for c-bug by Chainer, and very few reports (only the complete nonsense ones) go unchecked when there are staff members online. Not every admin online has to check the same report, the admins in the helis may have not been doing it but others were. Recently I've been on alot and when I'm not I always check from IRC what staff member is on and it's fairly rare that I should find that nobody is on.
This isn't needed, you want it, but it isn't needed. It's fairly easy to be able to abuse such a command and as I see it, quite a few people with donator status would indeed abuse it. It's easy enough to know when somebody is abusing /setspawn and in case it's a new donator we alert them and if it's not we ban them or remove the status, but not that easy to check people who would use this. In the end, it's cool that donators get their commands and cool features but the specing and staff commands are for the staff, that's just how it goes.
