How to: Add own images to server
« on: May 30, 2020, 04:13:05 PM »
You can add your own images to the minecraft server with the following commands:

Quote
/maptool new <direct link to image>

i.e /maptool new http://minecraft.littlewhiteys.com/jahsus.png

This will generate a map in your hand with a picture of the image which can then be placed into an item frame and hung on a wall for other players to see:

Depending on the dimensions of the image that you upload the image will be split across multiple maps. To make an image that can fit into 1 singleframe re-size the image to 96x96 before uploading or you can use "/tomap <url> 1 1" with these being the width/height.

You can also type /maps to bring up the user interface to manage your current maps/delete existing ones.

It is also possible to make larger sized images, please see the following video which will give you an idea of how this can be achieved:

Finally, this is an experimental feature and we will see how it goes, please DO NOT add any images that have the following nature/content:

- Porn / Child abuse
- Animal Abuse
- Realistic Death / Gore
- Religious / Political
- With intentions of abusing other players

Anyone caught breaking any of the above will be indefinetley banned and could lead to the plugin itself being limited to only trusted players.

If you are struggling to host your image somewhere long term with a direct link, please feel free to pass the image to me on discord and I will upload it directly to the web server for you.

Finally, credits to the creators of the plugin (https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/imageonmap.26585/) and 'Bean Land' for the tutorial video.

Cheers,

- Hanney

HOW TO resize image to match the item frame perfectly:

An item frame needs an image to be 96x96 pixels in order to perfectly fill the frame, so one frame equals 96 pixels high and 96 pixels long.

For example:

This template would perfectly fit one item frame corner to corner.

+ =

This example does not need to be resized in game as it will fill one item frame perfectly.

The same applies for longer and higher images (example image is 192x288 pixels):

Each blue square is one item frame, so in this case, we would need 6 item frames in total placed like the image below.

+ =

Once you have your image perfectly sized, you will need to resize it in-game using the command: /maptool new [url of the image] resize [width] [height]

For example, if we are going to use the vending machine image from the second example, the code I would use ingame would be: /tomap https://ryz.crys.dev/mc/vending.png resize 2 3 - the 2 being the width of the item frames and the 3 is the height of the item frames.

And that's it! See below some templates for use if you have access to photoshop:
Make sure your image fills the template and you are good to go!

This plugin was recently updated and the command to add images to the server was changed to: /maptool

Example usage: /maptool new http://minecraft.littlewhiteys.com/jahsus.png
