Improve the /loc CMD
« on: February 16, 2010, 01:30:21 PM »
A summary of the changes that you want: If we set /loc on, the person should get highlighted(The blip) white or in another colour.
The advantages of this change happening:You can find her/him faster
The disadvantages of this change happening:If you are in a gang the blips are highlighted too, so it has to be a different colour like the old admin white.
Any script snippets which provide the feature that you want: None, sry

I had to laugh xD

-1. Ive always thought that bounty is for this. When you someone to be seen by everyone else u put the biggest bounty on him. /locate is good enough the way it is now.

disadvantage: it will make hunting to easy for all players.

This would be cool, but for money, 100k at least.

Come on, how can all of you say -1??? :o :o :o
It's so annoying that when you are looking for a friend and use the /loc command it just says "whoever is located at wherever"!! and you get thinking "ok, thanks for nothing, do I have to know all the damn district names and their locations as if I were a GPS?"

And now I'm gonna answer in red text inside this quote (so I don't have to make too many quote blocks):

-1. Ive always thought that bounty is for this.

No my friend, bounty is just for when you want everyone to kill someone. If you are trying to locate a friend, how can you put a bounty on him?

When you someone to be seen by everyone else u put the biggest bounty on him.

Ohh yeah, we all have billions of dollars in the bank to do that, and of course wasting them in putting bounties (if you only want to locate someone and not make him run with some hunters chasing him), instead of in buying properties or hosting races is the best of the ideas. Without saying that if you have just put a bounty on someone to locate him, and then I want to locate another player, then I have to put a higher bounty on him, but in that moment you won't be able to locate that player that at first you wanted to find, and so on...
And regarding to the phrase I have highlighted in bold, why would you want that player to be easy to find for everyone and not just for you?

/locate is good enough the way it is now.

Ohh yeah, is super good, easy and intuitive.

disadvantage: it will make hunting to easy for all players.

This would be cool, but for money, 100k at least.

Only 100k? come on, say 100 billions, so only money cheaters can afford it.

When you want to know where your friend is, you can ask him. I didn't even wondered that u want to use this command to locate friends. U can also invite him to join gang. Don't say that you might not have a striking colour, when u know less or more where the guy is, it's not difficult to find his blip.

Yeah, only 100k. For your consciousness many ppl might not want you to watch every their move all the time. You will see how annoying is that when you will try to get to sheep farm with 1 mill in your pocket and Dallas guys will chase you down ;) And Im not saying this as an extremely rich guy, my bank acc has never reached 9mills.

I think it's a good idea. When you use /loc id, that red cross appears on the blip of the person, but it doesn't move, so you will know only where the person was when u used the command.
I like Benny's idea, but Im not sure if it is possible to do.
