Sorry for coming late, but I think I don't understand this very well: if a new player comes to the server, spawns and is immediately killed, respawns and is killed again, and so on and on, then two things can happen: if he knows that choosing another skin he will spawn somewhere else, maybe he will change it and keep playing, but in the very probable case that he doesn't know that, he will leave the server and never come back.
Well he can click F4 and change skin lol. So it's not a problem.
P.S Nice avatar :D

Thanks for the P.S, but please read again what I have highlighted in red.

If the spawnweps return it should be less of a problem ..

Well, even with them, if a new player doesn't know how to dm and is attacked by many players, he still has no chances...

I think there should be a warning for the new players to know how they can choose another skin and spawn in any other place. Or maybe if the police skin was available but wasn't the default one...

That, whom you highlighted red, isn't a problem, or it realy tiny. So doesn't matter, cause he knows where he are.

Regulars care about their stats, but if a new player is always being killed and he can kill no one, obviously he gets bored and leaves the server.

on other servers normally noobs get spawnkilled and not until they get spawnkilled up to the point that they aren't even playing, they dont leave. Again, it's the regulars that care so much about losing hp

Take a look on what a new player nicknamed Louis_Tincan says about police skin:

That means we go back to what we had before this topic started ;)

For now, I think an info box may be useful for first time players -- that is players who aren't registered and haven't played this "session" (player who doesn't have temporary data saved) ..

The problem about the spawn killing was stated in the first post. It's about weighing negatives against positives, the positive is that it "looks busier" when people spawn in a similar area. With less people playing the server is like a desert if everyone is spread out.

My point with those screen captures is that many new players don't know how to change their skin, and that one asked and I gave him the answer, but it could have perfectly happened that nobody had answered him and he had got fed up and left the server to never come again.
Besides, it's not only that I answered him, but also that he at least bothered to ask, whereas some other new players won't even ask but directly leave the server, because this one at least knew that changing his skin he would spawn anywhere else, but other newbies can probably think that all skins spawn at the same place, so if they don't even know that changing skin will solve their problem, they won't ask how to change it.

Well, that theory is nice, but in the reality when you spawn only with deagle whereas other players come to you with good weapons and in groups 4 vs 1, if you are a new player you will probably prefer to spawn in a deserted place and have time to roam around before someone kills you.

Very good reasons, which have actually swayed me the other way ;).

What do you think about informing "new" players on spawn or during class selection?

Thanks, :) although actually this is what I have wanted to show since my first message in this topic:

Sorry for coming late, but I think I don't understand this very well: if a new player comes to the server, spawns and is immediately killed, respawns and is killed again, and so on and on, then two things can happen: if he knows that choosing another skin he will spawn somewhere else, maybe he will change it and keep playing, but in the very probable case that he doesn't know that, he will leave the server and never come back.

What do you think about informing "new" players on spawn or during class selection?

I support anything that makes things easier to new players.
Maybe in the skin selection screen, there could be a text for each skin saying where it spawns. For example, in police skin it could say "always spawns at LV Police Station", in paramedic skin "always spawns at Hospital next to LV airport", and in other skins it would say "spawn in random places around LV", and a text telling how to change skin (F4 and /kill), and it also could say something like "if you are spawn killed many times in a row, you should change your skin to spawn somewhere else by pressing F4 and typing /kill".

By the way, I have just read again the entire thread and have seen some things:

If you join the server for the first time and see lots of players here, it makes it a very exciting place for deathmatch players. More victims, more challenges. Players who do not want action when they spawn can pick another skin, or join a pure roleplay server.

I would change that "more victims, more challenges" to "more enemies, more possibilities to be spawn killed", because if you are new and you spawn surrounded, you don't have more victims, but instead you become the victim!!
About what I have highlighted in red, they can pick another skin if we tell them how to do it and that by doing it they will spawn somewhere else, because many new players don't know it by themselves. And about "join a pure roleplay server"... well, that means they are leaving our server, which is exactly what we don't want.

well i agree, but we should make some more protection against spawn killing... How about invincibility for 10 seconds after you spawn?

Not worth changing the cop skin to the first skin then IMO. 10 seconds is a long time and players will be able to run away before then without being forced into a fight (as we want :>)

I was about to open a thread to suggest those 10 seconds of invincibility to avoid not only spawnkilling but also doorcamping.
You also say that with this, players who spawn would have time to run away and escape... well, is that something bad? ??? In case of a new player with a deagle, you wouldn't be forcing him into a fight, but into a sure death!!

Noobs normally like to join in on the action right away

If "the action" doesn't mean being killed with no chances to defend themselves...

Maybe it should say *If you want to spawn somewhere else press f4 /kill to change skin* or smthing
Yes,i agree...there should be something like this, cause there are players as gryphus said, that will always get killed if they choose police skin and dont know how to change...:)

Yes, both Daniel and Reny are right. :)
