1000$ laptop?
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:10:29 PM »
So here's the deal: i'll have about 1000$ for a laptop probably at the end of this year (i know its far from today, i just wanna check all possibilities.)
There will be needs for school, 3d modeling, and it would be really nice if it could handle almost all today's games easily. (idk if thats possible for that money, just hopin)
So, if you got any suggestions, please post em :) thanks in advance.

All games of today probably not possible..

Your talking atleast 8 gig of RAM,
Atleast a ATI Radaeon 69xx
Or one of the latest Nvidias
And one of the latests CPUs

For a laptop like that to play all games that u can nowadays, you would need atleast 1500 to 1600

A simple solution:
Buy a PC.

Also, if you wont have the money till the rest of the year then ask at the end of the year. Technology advances at a very quick rate, and by the end of the year what you are told here could be redundant/useless.

Also, i dunno how $ converts to £ for laptops and what is available where you are. The only tip i can give, which i have been given before is - Do not buy a dell.

Do not buy Dell, or Packard Bell. Infact try to assemble a PC yourself. More bang for your buck. No useless crap etc etc.

I can test how will run on my laptop.

yeah i know things will change by the end of the year, i just want a pretty decent laptop which can be used for everything.
also ACE, i have a PC, but as i am in apartment and its crowded here + parents dont allow it i cant buy another PC. the other thing is that im gonna need to bring it into school and university later D:
that thing which Jets found is great, but i think its alittle bit too much (12 gigs of RAM :o).
thanks for all the help, ill keep searching aswell and ill ask you guys here what you think about it ;D

For modeling programs as the one you use. You will find it greatly needed to have 12 gig of RAM. You could never have to much of it to be honest. And a 2,2Ghz quad core i7 is perfectly fine. You don't really see much higher CPU speeds than that with Intel. The ones that are higher than 2,2 Ghz usually cost a lot more money. I'm not to sure about the video card. But it looks good this laptop.

1) Intel CPU's tend to have bigger L2 and L3 caches which make the 2.2 ghz speed a mute point. L2 and L3 caches will make the cpu faster. (its interesting to read about it)
2) take you PC to school. You will have one kick ass fast computer at school and the muscles of an Athens legend but the end of the uni course!
3) on a serious note i have nothing else to add now.

The laptop I suggested should be more then enough, and should last you long enough, to get you through college, and more. Its more then what you need. The graphics and memory are great for this price.
