Ohai Tezza!
If you wanna buy a tablet you'll have two options, either iOS (on ipad) or Android (on several brands such as Samsung, Motorola, blackberry's playbook, HTC, Huawei, and others).
If you wanna get more functionality go for Android. The best Android tablet maker by far is Samsung. If you wanna get a little smoother touch response (and I mean little!) go for iPad. Here's a list of all I can remember atm, if you have any other questions ask nao!
Advantages of Samsung Galaxy tab (10.1, 8.9, 7.7, and 7.0 - not the old "phone tab") over the ipad:
- Full HD display (compared to 768 x 1024 on ipad), I know a friend who has an iPad who wow'ed when he saw my display.
- Bluetooth for sending and receiving files (only streaming music on iPad).
- Applications for downloading music and youtube videos (restricted by apple to get $$ from itunes).
- Customization (several home screens, ability to change backgrounds and add live widgets, e.g: news, weather calendar, social networking vs. the ipad's wallpaper on the unified iOS screen)
- Tathering (sharing your 3g or wireless connection with other devices, through Wifi, bluetooth, or USB).
- Better cameras on all models (different MPs on each model, but all are better than ipad's)
- GPS on all models (only on 3G models on ipad)
- File management (copy and paste just like any mass storage device vs. must have itunes)
- Variety of sizes (ipad is 8.9 inches, you can select between 7.0 up to 10.1 on the Galaxy tab).
Some models have even more advantages (eg: SuperAmoled screen on 7.7), but in all cases the advantages mentioned above apply on all models.
Advantages of ipad:
- Smoother touch response. (you have to check for the response of both irl, don't depend on videos and recommendations).
- iPad's magnet cover is more available than tab's.
P.S.: 3G only is not an option on both devices, you either get wi-fi only or 3G+wi-fi.
