Suggestions [Way to gain more players]

Hi,
I thought of dropping by some suggestions that might improve the server?

- If it was to count how many Reaction-Tests you win, in your /Stats, it'd make the reaction-tests more competitive, and fun, as they count in your stats.

- Spawning RAMPS would make the game much more fun, as you can stunt around, etc. Players get to switch the ramps spawning mode on or off, you also get to choose your ramp style, /ramp 1-5 or something, then pressing CTRL would make you spawn a ramp infront of you, you must be in a vehicle to get the feature. I'm sure a lot of you have seen this feature somewhere or another.

- Mini-games, which can be started by any player, not only admins, and the prize amount can be defined by the starter of the minigame, from his own money.
I don't have alot of Mini-Games suggestions but, here are some:

#1 /RW - Last man standing minigame. You can also set a minimum amount of cash as a prize. "E.G 10,000" [Obviously as the name says, weapons are the Running Weapons, SawnOff and MicroUzi]

#2 /WW - Last man standing minigame, but with the Walking Weapons "DesertEagle/NormalShotgun/Sniper/M4", the winner wins the prize efficiently.

Also, if you would take in with those ideas, you can add how many minigames you won, could also include Races winning, in your stats bar.

And now I'm out of ideas, maybe you can bring up yours?

No. We're not partyserver nor some hacker freeroam.

I quite agree. There have to be made some detailed thoughts about it but it seems a fine idea.
On the minus side: The implementation is non-trivial while it might look simple. Questions like
-where should the arena be
-how to join
-who wins how
-what possibilities for exploits exist
have to be cleared before an implementation. Also each new minigame would spawn equal implementation expense.

About the stats. I don't think it will be too easy working with the database of LWs and rewrite or add to the stats system.
PawnFox is already spending very, very much time on the development, yet he was only able to fix the bugs and add small stuff.
This is due to the catastrophal shape in which LWs code is atm.
We can talk about such comprehensive changes when the current v2.9.0 is fully working.

- The arena would be built with the minigame script somewhere you find good enough, that fits for atleast 10 players or so. Or you could also get an arena options, like the Dueling System, I can suggest you some arenas, but I don't think it's that hard to get ones by yourself ehm.
- You win by killing everyone in the minigame? It's a last man standing, all vs all.
- Anyone can type /rw or /ww to start a minigame, then define the prize amount, a message would pop up "*Player name* has started a RW Minigame, to join /RW, It will start within 2mins", or something similar, others can join by typing /rw or /ww ?
- What?

We don't have to be partyserver nor some hacker freeroam to get to spawn ramps. It's just a subject to make the game more fun and active?

I'm not with you in this one. Enzo is right. You have to work to get ramps by yourself, like getting a packer or something, place it on where do you wish to stunt, and just drive through it.

This, I agree. It'll be more fun.

Meh.

Players reviewing their own behaviour would be a beginning.
What I have noticed since a long time is that the same people who cry about an empty server on forums, are those who team up with regular littlewhitey's players, so they can non-stop rape the new, unskilled players.

Think about it for a minute.


Would you stay on a server if you get spawnkilled by groups of regular players who are often not even in the same Gang?

You can see it almost everyday when the player count is below 15. Almost all regular players on the server call each other "friends" and team up with each other, even if they are in different Clans. So the only players that get killed are newcomers.


What I think everyone on the server could do to increase the player count is:

  • spending time with new players and making them feel welcome. (I remember when Enzo was totally new ::) )
  • hosting as many races as possible, since the race system is probably the best feature lw's has.
  • being more active on the server, even if it's just pausing in bank. It increases the player count and makes the server clim in the ladder on hosted tab.

I guess this is very true.

This is also the reason why I always started to randomly drive-by any players, especially the ones I know the best. I can't imagine something more retarded and more boring than camping near NAM with people from random clans. And I can proudly say that I have NEVER taken part in such activities. Not even once within 1.500 hours of gameplay.

The good times when I was hanging around with [M], we didn't simply camp somewhere and chat. We did the most epic shit we could possibly imagine and it always included some sort of creativity and/or chaos in order to kill/stalk/annoy/disturb random people.

What LW really needs is no new server script and no new minigames. We need regulars who don't behave like fucking zombies whos names I cant even recall because they all behave the same fucking way.

Yes. Otherwise i wouldn't be here  ;D
LW was my first server i played regularly in and i remember the epic and funny wars i engaged alone against the whole eVo gang (and i was on samp for few days).
Still i found that very funny: hitting and running, hiding and facing them when they were alone or on low hp, or also kamikazing against all of them  ;D  and it pretty teached me how to survive in this server.

But probably now is different cause having less players in the server, focusing on the newbies is easier and i guess they have less chances to escape..

Plus i agree about how wrong is raping repeatedly the newbies all together, not giving them any break...this doesn't help the server to have a chance to gain new regulars...that's why i try to help them sometimes and avoid to team with everybody

New players are commming and Lw has to be readdy for it!

Faye's ideas are not bad.Reaction tests are great idea for earning money,but we might need some more things.There should be allowed that the regular players(not mods or admins) could make a minigames or something like events. ;)  :)

I have an idea about the race system, well it isn't really a bid deal but maybe could help a bit. :)
So the most important in my opinion is to change the red blip on the rader to a raceflag. And the reason is, that we try to make races in order to give a nice experience to new players, but most of the time they don't even find the race start, beause the red blip looks like an other player. Admins not always have the time to teleport them and neither regulars to navigate them to the race start.

The other thing is the time. I feel like, that 12 minutes is is way too long. I have seen players go to the race start and then leave because they got bored. I think when a race is hosted, most of the players go and search for a fast car or bike immediately, and when they are done with it go to the race start... and they still have 9-10 minutes till it starts - so after 4-5 minutes they will leave as it is boring. So maybe instead of 12 minutes, 6 would be enough.

One more thing came to my mind. To get money is a problem to new players. Exporting cars is kinda easy and while doing it they can learn about the map, vehicles and so on, so exporting cars is awsome. But they don't know about it, and even if they see on the chat that a car can be exported - they just won't find the place to take it to. So my suggestion here, is to change the red blip on the radar to a Car. It is more direct. And maybe a /export command which tells you what cars can be exported. If there is a command like that, then sowwy and let's pretend that i did not even mention it. ;)

So these are my megaawsomesuper suggestions. :)

So your suggestion is to add more specific icons to the radar. Yeah, i agree with you.  It helps new player that actually want to race. It'll be easier.

13 minutes is long. I also thought about reducing the time before race starts. Our player counts now
aren't much. So 13 minutes is too long.

Changing the icon for export is cool too. Most of newbies doesn't know where Redsand West is. The red mark isnt big too. Not as big as race's red mark. You have to go near Redsand West to see the red mark in radar. Make it long distance so players can see it from far.
