Bug.

Sup,

Ever since I upgraded my Windows from 8 to 8.1(i.e 5 months ago), I've been having this annoying bug, which apparently pauses my game for 4 seconds or longer.

How do I know this is happening?
I use the genuine copy of GTA VC(https://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-Vice-City-PC/dp/B00008JODN), whenever the disc loads and bam, the game pauses for a few seconds. It's quite hard to explain this by typing, I'll try and record how it happens and I'll let you guys know.
I'm apparently being accused of pausing during battles because of this bug and I'd like to avoid this by having a solution to this problem.

PS: For retards who think I'm lying about me having the genuine copy

Why not just use a no cd crack and replace the original exe so that it doesn't rely on the disk drive at all? You still own the game so it's not like its piracy or anything imo.

Dofry pmed me the same stuff, and I tried it, but the result makes no difference, the game launches, as soon as the loading screen pops up, it asks me to insert the disk.

My guess is that the NO-CD crack you tried was not compatible with your game version of Vice City. As far as I know there are a few alternative versions of the crack, one of them should work..

Try to run it in Compatibility Mode for any option(just play a little bit with the options and see which one works). Still no luck? Run Compatibility Troubleshooter and tell me what it says.

I have never used CD's for other things expect Windows. Why don't you download from Internet?
Between some times your game pause during playing when your Windows Disk( Windows location) is full or nearly less have then 10 GB's free space,maybe that's why.
Tell me the size of your vicecity.exe file(only .exe)maybe i can help you .

I tried everything mentioned above. The problem still occurs now and then.

I have this problem too, my old "dodgy" copy of vc degraded, and I managed to find an original for sale second hand. Now I get a freeze when I get in a car as it fires up the cd for the radio station, sometimes it even places me ontop of the vehicle as if i hade done !eject. Choosing the option to install the radio stations instead of playing frpm disc has no effect either. I was able to find a no-cd exe that would allow the game to load without asking for the disc, the only problem is that vcmp would not work with it
