You do not need a credit card. You can make an paypal account, go to your real life bank and transferf from your real life bank to your paypal account.
It is safe.
You dont need a credit card, I got no credit card eithert.

No one has to donate, but it would be really nice to keep the server alive.

the server costs are ~£70/month, but i only use donations for about 50% of that since the server runs other unrelated stuff too.
btw, using a credit card is the safest way to buy stuff online as the credit card company are liable for losses not you. so if you screw up a payment you demand your money back from them, not the company you buy from
