When I first read the OP, I was pretty vehemently on the "WTF? NO!" side of things...

However now that I've thought about it some, I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea... but I do think that other ways of earning money need to be added before it is removed.

Sometime today or tomorrow I'll try to go into the server under a fake name to see how hard it is to get a start as a noob without gambling. Until then, I'm abstaining from the poll.

-Would make server-controlled money system possible. This means, that there won't be any more cash cheaters around, EVER.

This isn't true, as there's still lag and pausing. Certainly there would be less of them, but to say that there will be none at all is a bit far-fetched.

Without gambling detecting that will be 100% foolproof, yes, I am sure.

No Chainer, there would be none at all. It would make possible a server-sided money system. Unless they know Popz's server user and password, can edit their SQL database information and increase their bank money, there would be no way to money cheat. Instead of showing an increase, it would just set the player's money to what it was before the increase. We won't be able to ban the cash cheaters actually, but their cheats would have no effect whatsoever.

Well if you think so, I trust what you're saying, as you probably know what you're talking about a lot more than me...
(edit: same to Zam, I didn't know that was possible)

Anyway:
If gambling isn't removed though, I think the "gambling license" is a very bad idea. Paying a few 100K barely affects the people who are really good at gambling and go in a casino and come out with millions (i.e., what we're talking about stopping in this thread), but it makes it very hard for the people who like to gamble just for fun but don't earn much doing it.

Yeah, and thats the point. Its way to freaking easy, so you have money in no-time, and you get bored super fast.

Exactly. Getting money shouldn't be easy... The main point is deathmatch, and that's the way (besides other minigames) you should earn money. I've noticed alot of players started playing rampages, they are certainly doable, and you earn some good dough with them, while you are getting better at shooting! So only advantages there, gambling screws up the cash balance. I once managed to get a full bank off of a gambler, and he still had 7 million in his pocket.. That's not good, because they start putting ridiculous bounties, or just give it away or something, which isn't the purpose of the gamemode..

I voted no, I like to chill and gamble once in a while myself. Just make people pay to gamble 1st, like a gambling license.

I like. One thing that makes littlewhiteys what it is is the gambling.. Vegas baby! One thing that I'd like to bring up is.. how about saving debts (possibly add a bank loan system too..)?

Now that's another story. I'd like that too, however is it possible to do that without saving weapons?

Slightly off topic: I made a new account and have played for 6hours with 4million without asking for cash or gambling.
(to on topic)
However, unless you know the server well and how/where to make money you cant make money that fast and so you go gambling to try and earn a lil cash, for weps so you can kill people.

Also, if this is about "gambling isnt the point of DM" then why not just give people weapons and say "kill all"? cus then its pure DM. LW's (imo) was never a "purist" DM server - there are so many other things to do, like raceing, gambling, gangs, territories, Fluffy, killing (in ANY way possible) and so much more. LW's always tried to keep the 'spirit' of GTA with so many things to do and not just come on and go "oh i have to kill people".

Also, if people get bored of gambling, surely they would get bored of DMing all the time? Gamblings a nice litle rest.
Further, i meant hte gambling licence so admins/mods could still detect cash haxors and not so much to stop people from gambling. If your good at gambling i say go do it, if your good at DMing, go do that!
