Title: [N]Increasing PirateShip Winnings
Post by: BikeDriver on June 16, 2010, 10:31:18 AM
well i just haz some awesome idea 10 seconds ago and before i forget it again i better write it down fast:

what about if the cash you gain per second depends on how much you actually haz on you?

like that suicidal peoples will stay there with $ 10.000.000 to gain 10.000 per second but in the end everybody will hunt/camp them down.
lets say:

$500+ = 100 per second
$100.000+ = 1000 per second
$10.000.000+ = 10.000 per second

of course some more levels but most important is that you dont make it linear because that will cause imbaness.

what you think? right now NOBODY is on the ship. like that at least some big and wery important motherfuckers will move in there.

i haz formula:

what about

moneys_per_second = money_on_you^0,5

for the idiots: 100^0,5 = 10
10.000.000^0,5 = 3162,27766

sounds good to me

What if by standing on the ship it would give you money and ammo
Title: Re: How to bring live back to the ship?
Post by: [JOKER]Miczi on June 16, 2010, 12:19:29 PM
I don't care about the ammo, but the whole idea is great!

Maybe the money should depend also on the ammount of people on the ship? More ppl, more money? That would make ppl take the risk and not run when there are other people on the ship. Also it's a nice reason to work in teams more - whole gangs camping on the ship, so that the money raises faster.

But even without this modification idea is great.

I just see this as making the rich richer.

$3000 second * 60 seconds = $180,000 per minute! That's not taking into effect any compounding effect because the money rate would change everytime they gained money.

By the way, square roots (x^0.5) are very expensive in the script performance wise.

the armour idea is stupid. another place where the idiots can run to. NO LIKE!

armor per second could be cool  ;D

by standing on ship you gain 1 HP and 1 Armor per second :P would be funny.

but no instant armor. that would be stupid.

and to the ones who say richer people will get more rich: no! its the difference! like that its pretty much the only possibility to make the rich guys POOR in an instant. i like the idea about gangs teaming up at the ship to gain monies or to rape the guys who try it to gain monies. that is what the ships were made for!

edit: oh i just found out you meant amo and not armor :)
amo per second cuild be nice but its kind of hard to script i guess. some script haz to find out what weapons you haz on you and then give you that amo per second. its not worth the work i guess.

i think that woud make the gameplay much easyer and it woud loose excitment right guys? ;)
like i heard 2 years ago there wasnt so much stuff in the server and it ws mostly full, so why? ;)

Quite an easy way to earn money during nighttime when no one is on the server, or 10 players max.
Maybe activate this system only when there are 20 players or more?

Omg, you seem to be really resentful about that...
It wouldn't make the gameplay easier. It will make it more risky, it's like hazard - you go to the ship with 1kk to get another 1kk, but you can easily loose everything. It would be exciting, believe me.

Yeah, it shouldn't work this way when the server is empty, too easy. And I think that the cash earn, even if you've got 0$ shouldn't be lower than it is now.

you get 3000 per second if you stand there with $10.000.000 my friend. 10.000.000!!!
only 1 helikiller and you lose EVERYTHING. only like 5 players who made up a good tactic and your FUCKED.

and to the performance thing: no offend but i just dont believe you. my calculator haz like 0,0005 MHz and it can calculate square roots in 0,5 seconds. if its really true then its easy enough to manually script it. if player haz 10.000.000+ monie and is on ship then he gains 3.000 per second etc... like that the monie you get wouldnt change every time you gain monie. only when you reach a new level your income would change.

I don't think that it would be easy to run with a lot of money from the ship, but maybe my tax system suggestion could help to keep the balance.

Yea, i voted no for the tax system, I just don't like taxes.
But I would support the tax system if something like this ship thing will be implemented.
It would keep up the balance indeed, and at the same time, it would people give some extra things to do.

you know the ship is dead right now. all you have to do is to find a good formula to balance this feature. right now the cash you gain is FAR too low.

srly i think this will bring back ship war at an instant. you just have to find a good formula to calculate the money per second.

srly meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen accept this and implement this... is serious menz
:(

im sure im not the only one who is SICK of this shit war at nam. btw at the ship heli killing is nearly impossible so everybody who doesnt like helikill will enjoy fighting there.
face it.. this would actually rly ROCK teh server.

Mmmm I dunno what to say about this: the simplest change would be just increasing the amount of money you earn per second, for example from 25$ to 100$. Implementing a proportional formula is a two sided weapon: if the money you earn is, as you suggest, proportional to what you already have, it's true that the richest players will go there to earn more money and then other players can kill them, but as Hazard said you are making the rich even richer, unbalancing the game even more. If by the contrary, you earn more money when you are poor and less when you are rich, then you have a more balanced game but the richest players will never go to the ship...

So +0

Rich are rich already, it's really not a big difference 2kk or 5kk (bank full). And the objection of killing a guy with 2,5kk in his pocket ::) mmm lovely.

Miczi, it would be useful if as you said, the money you earn were proportional to the number of players on the ship at that moment. This would also avoid the problem Wallie said about players getting rich easily on nights when the server is empty.

Interesting, it should be inversely proportion to the number of players on the ship which is then scaled up depending on the amount of players on the server (so players don't join the server in a quiet time and sit there earning loads of money)..

Why do I think that? Circle jerk zones for free cash are uninteresting and uninspired, in order to earn extra money you have to "dominate" the ship or "dominate" it with a friend (since it's inversely proportional, that'd mean you'd share the earnings)..

A summary of changes you want

well,I have think this too many times, but never posted a topic.I think that it would be better to increase the winning/sec of staying at pirate ships, coz nobody is staying there, even the new players r finding it boring, while u can make money much faster with another things. You can make there a teritory, and which gang owns the teritory wins(for example)1000$ regulary(for each gang member).I have culculated that to make 63,000 $ at pirate ships u must wait 42 minutes, when u can easily go and take (for example) chetah and export it.So I think this must be changed. :)

Advantages

There would be more fight in that area, the new players would be happy, etc

Disadvantages

The money would lose its efect,i mean everybody would have money

Yeah I agree in that the amount of money earned on the ships MUST be increased, but I don't know whether it's better to make it proportional to other factors (like the money you already have or the number of players) as proposed in BikeDriver's suggestion, or simply to increase the amount of money per second with no extra formulas, as suggested in this thread.
