Title: [I] Remove rules agreement
Post by: Swanson on July 13, 2010, 08:33:20 AM
Like the title says, remove the rules agreement.

When new players join the server, they have to accept the rules in order to play. This sounds nice, but I've seen it happen too many times that some idiots try to join the server, but get kicked because they're too stupid to understand this and just click ok. What happens next, is that they try to rejoin, and get kicked again because they still don't understand. I see this happen everytime I play. This costs a lot of players, cause apparently there are too many idiots/retards/people who don't speak English.

If you get real, the rules agreement is useless (well it's usefull to keep the server empty). People still break the rules, or cheat or abuse. This agreement doesn't help admins or the community in any positive way. Nothing good changed since its introduction. The only thing I've seen is a lot of new players getting kicked for stupidity, not because they just don't agree with the rules. Maybe 1 out of 20 players really doesn't agree, and chooses to leave the server. Actual numbers I don't know, but still too many players try to rejoin and get kicked over and over again, and never come back because they just don't know what's happening.

So please remove this useless agreement, or at least just make an OK button so people won't get kicked.

Totally agree, and this has been talked about several times since it was implemented, because when I play I see many times "whoever has been kicked. Reason: not agreeing to rules", and you can see that player doesn't relog again, but he never comes back, probably because he jumps to the next server on the Samp list.

I agree. Just give them an info: if you don't agree to the rules leave the server now.

O_O i think my post got deleted... maybe i posted it in other topic.. whatever..

i agree. remove this. just show the rules all over the screen and write: "LEAVE THE SERVER IF YOU DONT AGREE".

the people who want to hack dont give a fuck about the rules anyway.

I made a topic about that in admin section, unfortunately didn't get much feedback. I seriously hope the agreeing to rules thingy will be removed

For next update the kicking part from this dialog will be removed.

And then, what else will happen if the player doesn't agree?

From another side it is useful for players who keep moaning, for example someone knew that racism is not allowed, but he start acting as if he dosen't know it, I think the rules agreement should stay so just incase something like what I've just said happend mods / admins can tell him that its not their problem that he did not read the rules agreement, just my opinion :P

Well Bloodster, in that case it can be made that the rules dialog appears, but instead of having a button to disagree (which leads to the kick), the text says "if you don't agree with these rules, type /q" and you have only the button to accept.

Yea, or mix this rule dialog with a tutorial.
When they press the OK button after they have read the rules they will get the question if they would like to do a tutorial(with a small reward.)

I agree with bloodster. The rules dialog prevents player from saying " i didnt know" when they probably did know. This is a solid system that gets rid of the doubts when some player does abuse and says "i didnt know blablabla". But indeed the kicking should be removed cause players wont connect 2nd time if they are new and just looking for new server and misclicked/pushed. Just do when they dont agree they just cant spawn, and message says"you cannot spawn since u did not agree with rules. type /rules and agree of leave this server. Thank you for joining". That would solve both issues

An OK button would do the job, without the kicking.
& maybe after that( when you lw scripters finally made it) a box pops up with the question if that player would like to get a tutorial.

I don't think you are able to say what people want or not want to do.
I think those people can determine theirselfs what they like or not.
I've been playing Mr.Tutorial myself & gryphus has also been busy teaching new players.
Those new players didn't mind to get some help & explanation & 9/10 are coming back to play!!!!

Those new players get dumped into a cage of lions with just a little or no knowledge.
Finally get owned, don't know how to make or save cash, and leave.

I see this alot, that regulars determine things for other players.
" They don't like this, they won't do that. "
Those kinds of sentences can stop refreshing idea's, those kind of sentences keep the way the server as it is.
& those kind of sentences only reflects on yourself, benny, YOU woudn't do that if YOU were a new player right now!
Maybe you see it that way because you know everything already right now or maybe you just want to find out all the things by yourself instead of getting help.
If both things wasn't the case, maybe you'll have a different perspective on this.

You forget that not everybody is the same and thats why there should be things created like tutorials for those people who are not the same.( Creating things, space, room for every different kind of player, would attract more players.)

maybe 10 out of 100 players who use little whitey as a trainstation because they don't feel @ home will stick on the server because they got some good explanation on how things work.
And as I see 9/10 players who I & gryphus have been busy with coming back on the server, this woudnt be such a bad idea would it?

The choice is still left for the player, to do or not to do the tutorial.
I don't see harm in making it friendlier for others. especially new guys.
As peoples interest in little whitey keeps decreasing.
& btw, if the players would recieve a small amount of extra cash, by doing the tutorial I think they will be even more likely to do a tutorial.

Met je chocomel ;D

Now it doesn't kick people if they don't agree to the rules.

if you press "Quit" now it says:

Server: If you do not agree with those rules please leave the game now!
