Title: Virus
Post by: Friskyyyy on September 15, 2010, 09:46:07 AM
Hey guys. I need a help. Yesterday i cought virus. When i turned on my pc, in the middle of desktop shown table. In that table writted (RUSSIAN LANGUAGE I TRIED TO TRANSLATE): "You have illegal Windows copy. We sended virus into your pc. If you want to unlock pc, you should send sms to number 1337 with text:5648565476. Cost ~ 1 dollarAnd etc." i worry, that i will get big bill for that. I know that shit really. so and other problem is I can't click Alt F4 to close the window, and Task Manager manager doesn't works. And i can't use the mouse not in the table. Mouse works only in that virus window, where is little tab to write CODE which i should get with Sms.. I guess it is Win32 virus, because my Antivirus caught three Win32 viruses before restart computer(before that internet turned off). Eh now im using mobile. Please any help.

Hmm normally when you restart the computer while having a virus makes it worse. Probably the best solution is to reformat your computer, that's what I did after restarting (and not knowing) with a bad virus.

You could take your hard-drive out of your computer (if it's unbootable),  Plug it in another computer, backup
all of your important files, Put the harddrive back in your "main computer", Reformat it, and then it should work.

You can either buy or download windows if you don't have a disc for it already.
And if your computer is built for a specific windows (Like XP for example) Get that.
Or else there is a risk that the drivers will lag.

And if you have 4 GB's of Ram memory or more, Get a 64bit windows :)

EDIT: Do not text that number, it's obviously fake. Why would microsoft put trojans/worms in your computer, Give messages in russian and stuff like that?

Doesn't seem real to me, Windows/Microsoft wouldn't sent you a virus, simple as that.

Roll your computer back a week, simples.

Put your Windows disc in your computer and restart it,
when the text comes "press any key to boot from CD"
Press a key, and start the reinstallation of windows..

This deletes all of your files on your harddrive

You have to delete all the partition(s) and create a new partition, then install windows.
You must have just repaired windows

Lol, if you did right there is no way files are left.
When you delete a partition and then format it
you basicly fill it with binary zeroes.

ontopic:
A boot time scan able antivirus software should be able to remove it (if the files can't be removed while the OS is running) with a high chance. :/
If your dont trust any software running on your compromited OS,
then theres also different bootable rescue discs provided by anti virus software companies to scan your system. :/

offtopic:

Thisss not true, only the partition table entry will be deleted so you can't directly access the data on the deleted partition.
( One of the reasons why parts of deleted partitions can be recovered, if not totally overwritten :P )

anyway: If you reinstall your OS, you shouldn't have any old files left (at least not in the new installation.)
