What did u expect... You installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Minimum Ram for Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit is 4 gig.....


Thats why i said get a cheaper one instead and save up for a gaming rig. As bikedriver pointed out laptops are not meant to be doing heavy duty gaming like BF3 not even on low settings.

Install Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit instead and the max RAM your OS will use is 4 gig. For the OS itself it will use only 2 gig max.

It will affect gaming, if all of the ram is consumed already it will fill up the buffer and you will start to lose FPS overtime.

so, if i install 32bit, all 4 gigs will still be usable? Also, i wont be playing hardcore games like BF3 so no worries.. (mass efect series, mw3 and NFS the run might be the most demanding
ill play..)

actually i just found that ur wrong D: if i install a 32-bit windows, it will use maximally 3.5 GB of RAM (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/taking-the-mystery-out-of-64-bit-windows)
So if i wanna use all my 4 gigs, i need a 64 bit version. And also, ALL versions of windows 7 have a requirement of 2gb of RAM. Ultimate doesnt need 4gb.
Also ill get a windows 7 professional, as my sister can get a legit copy from her college. The fact is that ultimate has only a few more features than the professional, so i guess i wont lose anything (ultimate has more of "pro user" programs stuff...)

Im not wrong. Windows 7 32bit supports up to 4 gig RAM but Windows itself only uses 2 gigs of that.... Thats what i meant.

Windows 7 64bit supports unlimited amounts of RAM (well if your motherboard only supports 16gig than u cant use more obviously)

oh and i did more reserach on the memory usage, and i found out that it isnt being really used that much; its got something to do with cache and virtual memory, but it mostly doesnt affect anything else...

When you are gaming RAM is usually used to buffer, Sometimes theres shared memory when your motherboard allows it will be used for your graphics card if both motherboard and graphics card support it.
