Changing Win7 version

hey
i've a simple question
i already installed win7 the home premium version and somewho advised me to get the ultimate ver!
so my question is
WILL I LOSE MY FILES/GAMES/ANYTHING which i aready have , if i install new version?
and should i remove the home premium ver to get the ultimate!!? or it'll overwrite itself!

Not if u just upgrade it but. Just to be save just copy ur files onto a external harddrive or USB stick and your good to go. Plus windows 7 installs in like half an hour so its not that big of a deal imo.

i thought about this but i got +40gb files wich i cant  save it on usb , what about removing the hp version? do i have to?

cheetos first ask yourself: what do you need ultimate version for?

64 bit home premium is all you need.. you probably dont even know what the differences between ultimate and home premium are.

if you really want to install another OS:
its better if you install it onto another hard drive, then you still have all your files on your old hard drive.
or:
if you backup all your files onto some external drive and then you formate your internal harddrive and install the new OS.

thats the easiest and best way and it will work without problems.

if you bought your OS in a store it should already be in your language...?

you cant change the language of your home premium version in a legal way but there is unofficial software.

The only reason i use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, is because i often use bitlocker and often use the Windows 7 XP mode (which is a program that lets u run older programs that cant run on windows 7 in a Windows XP mode window. or something like that lol

If you install a newer version on top of another version, the software will automaticly put all of your files into a folder called 'Windows.old'. This is where you can find all of your previous files.

If you just upgrade to ultimate, it won't change, it won't delete your files. But to be safe, make a backup copy in case something goes wrong.

Another tip:

Devide your HDD's into partitions where you keep like 30 to 50 Gigs just for system use only. this way system files don't get corrupted as easily.

I installed Home premium on top of XP, Ultimate 64 on top of ultimate 32, ultimate on top of home premium, etc.. it always puts my files into Windows.old folder. Or when you have a Windows.old it makes a folder: Windows.old0000 etc.. So the chance of you losing your files is quite small, unless something goes wrong during installation an your HDD fails.

Its different from compatibility mode. Just read up on it and ull see.

thats right but i never trusted this. i always put the new OS on a separate, freshly formated HDD and then i use the old HDD as a second HDD.

i guess thats way more save than your method.

where does the windows.old folder will be lacted? at the current windows or the upgraded coz i'll remove the HP if i upgrade!

that software i've downloaded and tried it , but it doesnt contain the english pack as i cant download it from the official microsoft
