Best ofThe Smashing PumpkinsPart 2 - The Mellon Collie era (songs from the "Mellon Collie and the infinite Sadness" album and a few B-sides from that time)Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (Great intro to the same-named album. Yeah, i love pianos too.)
Tonight, Tonight (This song finally made me a huge Pumpkins fan. Great effort in this song and the combination of guitars, strings and drums is just off this world. Chamberlin FTW! The video is very nice too.)
Jellybelly (Fast-paced Pumpkins rock.)
Zero (Quite popular Pumpkins classic.)
Bullet with Butterfly Wings (Another popular Pumpkins classic with a cool video. Lovely drums once again.)
To Forgive (So so sad but such a beautiful song one more time. 2:40-3:12 <3)
Love (I found it pretty experimental for the Pumpkins at that time but learned to love this song after a while.)
Cupid De Locke (Harps are good. That's harps ain't it?)
Galapogos (Ignore the video and the fact this dude spelt the title wrong. Besides that, it's a beautiful smoothe love song.)
Muzzle (Another of my all time faves.)
Bodies (Great fast track.)
Thirty-Three (Relaxed classic with a great video.)
In the Arms of Sleep1979 (You suck in case you never heard of this.
)
Thru the Eyes of Ruby (Fucking Amazing!! EPIC!)
Stumbleine (I always loved this sound you get when you "grind/glide" from one chord to another on a guitar.. guess you know what i mean.. you hear it a lot and crystalclear in this one.
)
Cherry (No idea why this song never made it onto an actual album.. at least it's been a B-side on the 1979 maxi cd. Thank god!)
Believe (Same as Cherry. This would have been a better "outro" for the Mellon Collie album than "Farewell and Goodnight" imo.)
Set The Ray To Jerry (Not sure, but this could be my all time favorite Pumpkins song here. Only a 1979 B-side tho aswell.)
to be continued in another post (3rd and probly final part)And I'll say this again: if it wasn't for Nirvana back then, the Pumpkins would have been much more popular and would have reached a much bigger audience very likely. Who know's.. maybe they would still be around today (with their original lineup: Corgan, Darcy, Chamberlin & Iha).
They have been much more innovative then Nirvana anyways, but the latter one got the bigger MTV hype.
And no, that's no rant against Nirvana, as I love them aswell.
