Yea Renato is awesome. He runs around and heals the others. I currently deploy 18 troopers in raids, so medics are very useful.

It's called propaganda. As soon as your Comms Officers together have 20 com points, every trooper can use it in close range combat.
This will make the affected enemy trooper change sides to your army.
