GTX260
Graphics clock: 576Mhz
Memory Clock: 999 Mhz
Memory interface: 448-bit GDDR3 (this is older)
Memory: 896 Mb

GTX550TI
Graphics clock: 900Mhz
Memory clock: 1025Mhz (4.1Gbps)
Memory interface: 192-bit GDDR5
Memory: 1024 Mb

HD6870
Graphics clock: 900 Mhz
Memory clock: 1050Mhz
Memory interface: 256-bit GDDR5
Memory: 1024 Mb

HD7870
Graphics clock: 1000Mhz
Memory Clock: 1200 Mhz (4.8 Gbps)
Memory interface: 256-bit GDDR5
Memory: 2048 Mb

Looking at this list the HD7870 comes out best. I would not go for the GTX260 at all since its already 4 years old (it came out in 2008). People often make the mistake that memory is what you need to look at. Like a 2GB card is better than 1GB card etc. Thats absolutely false. Its the memory, graphic and shader clock you need to look at and the memory type as well GDDR5 or DDR3 or GDDR3 etc etc. The memory of like 1GB or 2GB is just a buffer and nothing more.
If you want to know more or see which card comes out best. Just look for video card benchmarks on google and go from there.

Keep in mind that Nvidia cards also use PhysX. ATI cards do not. So usually Nvidia cards do run better.

Here is a website with huge lists of benchmarks: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/  Use it.

just LOL. First, for all the fanboys here, you just cant say "7870 is better, buy it". Think in this card like a high-performance one which is in the same line of gtx 580 and better ones, so compare this to gtx 200 series or a 550 ti is a mistake. Buddy about those cards, you'll have better performance with 550 ti and its requires a lower psu.

Bullshit.

Choose any combination of ATI/Nvidia graphics cards from the same price range and the ATI one will always perform better in games (of course ATIs also consumpt more power).

Oh i just love random retards who pass by to prove their stupidity.

But i really have no idea what you want to do with a GTX 550 Ti since 6XX are already out...?

Lets say.. you wanna spend like 150 bucks for a new graphics card.

Then it would either be AMD 7850 or GTX 650

and here you can see:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=680

the ATI pwns the shit out of the GTX..

btw: who is the fanboy now? "just LOL" fuckhead ffffffffffffFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ;D :D

u did not understand a shit  :D. Im sayin, HD 7870 is too much card for a GTX 560 ti, HD 7870 is a fucking beast compared to a gtx 560. Those cards are not in the same line. A good rival for an HD 7870 is a gtx 580 or better nvidia card, not lower. BTW this fanboys started to talk about hd 7850/7870 when the guy who made the topic just want to know about 2 nvidia cards (gtx 260 and gtx 550 ti) so i said that, between THOSE 2 cards, 550 ti will perform better and requires lower power supply.

FFfffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :D

that is true

indeed a GTX580 is a rival for HD7870 but the HD 7870 costs 100 bucks less ;D

and again: why care about nvidia 5XX? buy 6XX or buy ati. the ati will perform better, the nvidia will work more effectively.
