Another question regarding donations...

Firstly, thanks for the awesome response to the other poll.

I think we will now open donations for 1month, see how it goes. If the response is as that thread suggests, then we will upgrade the server. The server we are looking at will be:

2x 2.66GHz Dual Core Xeons (4 cores total)
4GB DDR2 RAM
2x 750GB SATA2 HDDs in hardware RAID 1
1GB/s uncapped pipe (should help if we are (D)DoS'ed)
750GB external backup
500GB backup external backup (backup for the backup!)

The question is... does everyone think this is a good deal?

Some rules we will have for donations (open to change/discussion/suggestions):

• Donations will be private - we won't have a leader board of who donated what.
• Only myself and LnX will know the amount we receive from individual donators: to stop people claiming bias for donators
• Total donation figures will be released at the end of the month
• ...suggestions?

Another request: Could anyone still interested in donating please PM me (and only me) how frequently you could donate (monthly/once-off/etc) and a rough idea of how much you'd be willing to donate.

Finally, all donators* over £2 will receive a limited edition Official Littlewhitey's SA:MP Server T-Shirt if we can find a way of making/sending them - more details coming soon!

im probably gonna sound like a dumbf-Luck but how does one donate? its certaintly a good idea though since we all use the server and you pay for it all (offtopic: apparantly the original server creater (or something like that D:) dude 'littlewhitey' left, if so, and you manage the server know, why is it not called 'littlep0pzys' or 'weliekmudkipz' ?) 1 more thing, "LIKE ZOMFG YOU CANT BAN ME I DONATED!!1111!111" or alternitivly "plz no ban me i donate "  might become as populour as the brother excuse

littlewhitey is still around, but he's not really involved anymore
that'll never be a valid excuse, as the admins wont know who donated. anyone using that will just be setting themselves up for a fall!
as for the name: it just wouldnt be the same! littlewhitey is a well known name and great guy - pretty much a brand to himself

The question is not, is this deal good, the question is how good is the network/provider . Servers are basicly all the same, but networks not. Some networks are just crap to run gameservers on. I have had mutiple servers in The Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium so I know what I'm talking about. At this moment I only own 1 server for personal usage that is collocated in Belgium. I'm having bad experience with servers in France and Germany. Many loss on their networks.

The server itself I by my thought MORE then enough to run the SAMP server if it's ofcourse only to run the server itself.

Also, there is no such thing as unlimited bandwith. Keep that in mind. Every sane person that offers dedicated servers/colocation will tell you that that is crap. Bandwith costs money and when you use 2 much bandwith, you will be thrown off. I have already seen the server has many DDOS attacks, that's very heavy for a network, routers, takes alot of bandwith, ... . So also this doesnt makes providers happy .

I've been in some datacenters, and i can only say *kuck kuch*.
Servers rented as connected to 1GB switches and effectivly, they are, but that switch is connected with an 100mb switch. SO there goes the speed

I would say, ask for a month testing (thats what most hosters offer, but ofcourse dont put on their website to avoid useless requests from children)
