Ban Punishment Times
« on: October 29, 2008, 11:25:39 PM »
I think it would be a good idea if there was a set amount of time a player was banned for certain offences. That way there's no favouritism possible, plus could lead to a decrease in rule breaking.

Cheats = Permanent Ban
Bug Abuse (1st Offence) = 3 days
Bug Abuse (2nd Offence) = 7 days / 1 week
Bug Abuse (3rd Offence) = 30 days / 1 month
Bug Abuse (4th Offence) = Permanent ban

etc etc etc

Also, when I say offence, I mean a ban. Before that there should be the 3 strikes (PM from admin, kick, ban (offence).

I think this idea should be implemented, it will benefit everyone. It will not be possible for players to argue that they were banned longer than another player because it would be based on the system :).  A possible idea for expansion of this would be similar to a UK driving licence, your offences expire after a certain time, but would still be held on record.

no imo, some admins may ban as soon as someone abuses a bug once, others may spectate for a long amount of time and wait till they do it a few times, so a standardised system isn't good imo

Not a bad idea but for bug abuse wouldnt a warning be first?:

                                                          (1st Offence) = Warning
                                                            "        "   and so on...
                                                          (5th Offence) = Permanent ban

Simply some people may not know, itd be fair and for them who do like an excuse cant say they wasnt warned and are left with no excuse..

Reason I mention this is cause im still going though the forums and noticing things that I didnt relize where not accected i.e the sawnoff reload switching thing.. :) see in my eyes id put that down to skill rather than a bug..
thats why a warnings aways a good idea.. :-\
even if its just for the n00bs..  ;)

I like the idea, but lets face it the ammount of reg's who KNOW THE RULES who then decide to break them because they think they cant be touched is going up.

Simply put, new players get a better deal because they didnt know any better, people who play daily who decide to do it need to be punished more

I understand that, but time is such a huge variable, that's why I think this system should be introduced. Then there is no arguing etc.

Stuff like this is what I want to avoid (Immortality moaning about his 2 week ban), Have a system. While regular players should know better than rule breaking, they should still serve the same ban sentance. Time is such a big variable, so is best left out of the equation imo.

well this sounds better than getting a ban without a reason.

imo all admins should use the same guidelines for all players instead of deciding the ban time by their personal issues or the mood at the moment of the ban.

Why does a player (reg or not) need a pm from an admin to tell him/her to stop bug abusing. Rules come up as the "game/server" starts. There are messages in the main chat box from mods/admins and LWbot (i thinks) tellign people not to do this.

(Also, before the argument that "Some people dont count switchign as bug abuse and need telling" comes up, If ur unsure what bug abusing counts as you should ask, not be told that your breaking the rules.

Also, ive seen mods/admins (and even regular players) tell players "switching is against the rules" and they carry so why not just a straight kick.

Everything else i agree with. Though other previous offences (flaming, ramming at race starts, etc) should also be taken into account.

Ok can someone point me in the right direction..
Cause apart from the forums I wouldnt had known about switching and im pretty sure that isnt in the rules when you join server!

Is there other bugs I need to be aware of?
Dont wanna get kicked for not knowing since you guys seem to be running a zero tolerance server!

I agree you need to be hard on persistent cheaters and non listeners.. but there are at least a few genuine people that genuinely dont know/aren't aware of some of the less obvious rules I.E the ones that dont pop up on your screen when you join the server..!

I hate excuses as much as the rest of you..
so if you leave people no excuse by being blatantly obvious about whats accepted it makes it a hell of alot easier to kick or ban when the rules have been broken!!

[sarcasm]u guys are incredibly understanding of situations

im like in shock[/sarcasm]

---------

And yea all admins should be on the same page.

Some admins administrate the switch rule differently then others.
Some admins even break the rule themselves...buy not reloading uzi's.

When the game starts up its says (rougly)
No Cbuggin, 2shot, bus abuse
This includes switching - ALLOW YOUR WEAPONS TO RELOAD

-.- Can rly get anymore blatant imo

Also, diffrent admins do have diffrent rules but they normally seem to be roughly on the same page -excep the ban times differ o.0

Ban times differ if the admins dislikes/likes the player or not. pretty obvious
