Kicked: Average ping??

I got kicked from the server because my ping was over 550.. I dont even know what ping is and how I can lower it.. can someone please tell me how I can keep my ping under 550 and is it possible to get my account back.. my user name is Kermit

the lower your ping is the better. if yours is over 550 then it means either A. u live miles away from the server (based in netherlands) or B. ur using other programs that overuse ur internet bandwith like filesharing stuff
