How could we let this happen to our server?
« on: January 20, 2013, 09:57:33 PM »
Littlewhitey's server.

Once home to the most seasoned of duelists.
Once cherished by the most talented of racers.
Easily the most unsafe place in San Andreas Multiplayer.
'Twas no asylum to the easily intimidated.

The server is now a gost town.

Precipitation has cleansed the streets of blood. Drifting sand has entombed empty bullet shells. A Rhino's engine idles at area 69, begging to be used for mass destruction...
...But nobody ever comes.

It's funny. You can enter the server, still. You can still walk the streets, drive the cars, fly the planes, create gangs. You can still find millions of dollars in your bank account. You can still find Ammu-Nation shops open. You can still create races. But you're alone....

How could we let this happen to the FIRST server? I'm going to be quite honest here. The challenge at hand, is not getting 400 players. No; it's getting 30 players. After 30 players are in the server, more will come; no matter the game mode. Community, competition and population drive the bulk of players to SA:MP servers. A big fat zero is not appealing. A 10, 20 or 30 is, though. A 30 can turn into 100 with no effort.

Are there ANY plans to revive the server? I'm no programmer, but I can think of a hundred ideas to bring this forsaken city back to life; while remaining a pure-deathmatch server. If there are any programmers out there who pity the state of the server, you have my attention.

What's holding us back??

You're right, we already working on 'something' but isn't nothing sure.
Also, programming isn't so easy, its takes alot of time and effort :).

Sometimes images say more than thousand words.
This is our server:

This is the rest of the sa-mp world:

And the ones that work hard to change this situation are facing this:

Sometimes you just have to accept things as they happen.

So there ARE plans to take back the throne? That's fantastic news!!

What sort of changes are brewing? I know programming is tough. I tried to make my own server once, too. I tried to make a team deathmatch ONLY on the skyscrapers of Los Santos. They were connected by boardwalks. Falling was a more common death than getting shot. But, it never made it.

But really, I want the info. I want to know what's in store! :)

Thanks nemisis for mentioning my dueling rank once again. Anyways sarcasim aside, there are many people who tried  to aid this server from the wound it has for years. Ultimately what happens is that those who try never get passed as far and will end up giving up. But why do they give up? It is because most people who has power in this server cant give too much fucks to care any more because they are busy with their life now

im not saying this in a sense that they should care about this server more, but im just stating the truth. However as im recently informed things are about to change.

Why do you think they didn't care anymore about server ? If it was like this, i'm pretty sure the server was closed right now but as you can see the management/admin/development team is really active atm.

And may i ask you who informed you about any changes ?

You know, this exact same thing happened to our server about 1 and half years ago. Players stopped joining and the server slowly withered away until it was shut down.

After an year or so we decided the revive the server and look at it now, it's more active than ever having a player count of 30+ most of the time, all the way up to 48 on most evenings. The features we have now are almost identical to those we used to have so that's not the reason for the popularity.

During that 1 year old players started to miss playing at littlewhitey's and once the server was revived only handful of players played there regularly. My guess is that those players, along with the server's reputation, drew attention just enough to get newbies interested, resulting in them flooding in. My point here is, like enkei said; "A 30 can turn into 100 with no effort." That's what must have happened with our case, only in a bit smaller scale.

Anyway good luck to you guys, I hope everything turns out fine and you get your server active again! :)
